Bad Math?

Let me see, 38,400 minus 1,700, minus 1,000 equals 35,700. So what is the difference here?? Why does my math different than yours?

4th gen. clutch adjustment

It's a very very fine adjustment found in either FSM or Haynes. I'll look to find it, 1/8 of a turn or less made a difference. Mechanic didn't have a clue how to do it, two or three shoulder side...
