Have you had the foot well vent leak water at all?
The connector to the ECU in the passenger foot can corrode if it gets wet. You need to clean the corrosion off...

So it would seem that I didn't need the new ECU. The problem was corrosion in the ECU wiring harness connector. Thanks Pmohr for putting me on the path to resolution!

I've wondered about that. But in the end I decided against it because the ECM might need to be grounded to the chassis through the mounting bolts. You'd have to pull the ECM out from under the center...

I checked the EGR temp sensor and it looks good...
I checked the EGR temp sensor and it looks good 2.6Mohms at around 70deg F. Even measured at the ECM connector.
Reset the ECM. Last CEL was P0443 on its own. I'll see what it throws up tomorrow.

Well, I'd test it first. Most of the solenoid valves can be tested by blowing through them while applying battery to the coil.
