Try to find the interior LED thread. You'd find how to disassemble the gauge cluster. Then find the CEL...

I installed a SONY GT-310 and a Cadence graphic equalizer. The HU sticks out about 1/2" and the equalizer sticks out about 1". :)

Although the CEL is out, the error code could be stored in the ECU unless you reset it. You should use an OBD II reader to dump the codes.
Or you can do "Out of sight, out of mind" stuff.:)

Go aftermarket HU!!!:)
Just replaced the "CD Err" Blose with a SONY HU. Sound much better than Blose. Though the original Blose is pretty good, the aftermarket one is even better.
