It can work in a 98 but I believe it has to have the 99 conversion removed. Not sure though. You would have to contact jim wolf. Maybe Wizard may know since he knows everything and has a sweet maxima...

1999's have a coded key and immobilizer. If you put another ecu that isnt designed for a 99 then it wont start. 99 is when the coded key started for maximas.
