Thank you. It's been a long project, I'm really liking the extra power (at least it feels that way, no dyno ;)) from hollowed out precats and new rings.

I had no idea that Nissan labeled the #3...

ID:10T error

To answer your question, I was able to disconnect the cylinder 1 and 3 coil packs and the engine idle wouldn't change.

As for the solution: I'm an idiot. I switched the cylinder 1 & 3 coil...

Bumpdate: Compression test is GOOD... I was really beginning to worry that I had bent my valves on accident. Compression test was conducted on a cold (60 degree) engine under dry (no oil added)...

I have a multi cylinder misfire that's driving me crazy. Cylinders 1 & 3 are not firing below ~3000 RPM's. At idle the check engine light is on, between idle and 3k the check engine light flashes,...

Yeah, I broke 2 screwdrivers. Even tapped them as you suggested, didn't help in my case. At least one of the screwdrivers was a craftsman... gotta love a lifetime warranty.

Yeah, you're right about the oil/coolant... not sure why I didn't put that together . As far as the bolt goes, I've had quite a few get stuck on me and I've always taken an 18" breaker bar...

Not an easy job

OK, first of all is this a 5th gen or the 5.5 gen? I have a 2002 (5.5 gen) so here's my 2 cents worth. Disregard if this is a 2000 or 2001.

I HATED doing the stereo in my max. The factory amp uses...

Did you ever perform the leak down test sir? I hate to say it but this sounds like a head gasket.

Light Hone

I've done a very light hone, just enough to see scratches in the surface. The hone had brand new stones and I made about 5 passes up and down. Heads are on, cams in place, putting everything else...

Once again, thank you. I'd hoped that you had skimmed my initial post
but you never know when an internet know-it-all will chime in. z32? Nice car sir. Always liked the body style... and turbos.

I was really hoping to avoid honing but I shall hone if nobody talks me out of it.

Thank you for the response. Could you clarify which parts I should clean? I took a razor blade and a scotchbright pad to the valves already. Planning on using acetone to clean up the intake manifold....

Hone or Not?

OK, I lost my VAIS bolt and ended up replacing the cylinder head on the left bank. As I was reassembling the exhaust I noticed that the precat on the right side was in excellent shape. After I...

Head Bolts and Gasket

After removing the replacement head I can turn the engine through but it still sticks in the same spots, I have to get some momentum going before it will turn through the "sticky" spots. My money...

Bearing OK

I quickly, and unhappily, pulled the upper oil pan and checked the bearing on cylinder #6. It's OK, no slippage or damage of any kind. Getting ready to pull the rear timing cover and the new cylinder...

Bump/Update

OK, so I've ruled out the casting numbers on the head. Everyone probably already knows that "L-8J1" are the only numbers that mattered. Pretty well ruled out the transmission/park theory before I...

Head Swap Questions

So I ran into the VAIS bolt failure on my 02 Maxima and I've replaced the left head as a result. After setting my timing I could not turn the engine over which meant removing my freshly set timing...
