Will it fit...yes as it is narrower tire, there will be no danger of rubbing. The size difference in size however is outside the recommended tolerances. 235/50/18's would be a better choice.

Check in the 5th gen forums for the dash lights issue. I had the same symptoms, and I think it came don to a faulty pre-cat due to a bad coil that was letting unburned fuel into the exhaust system.
