Yeah, lesson learned. Not going to purchase xentec again. It's the hassle of having to re-do that outweighs the initial cost.

Is it safe to buy an alternator off ebay? Any particular brand I should buy, or watch out for? Also, I'm assuming you also have to replace the belt at the same time too?

I really don't know what kinda work that guy did on the unit. It works fine, but my Steering controls have never worked. I'm guessing he never used a switch to retain OEM controls.
