I have a Harbor Freight jack and it is just a nice as my craftsman unit. In some ways it is better. Mine works smoother than the craftsman in ability to lower slowly.

I would think any of the major names would be ok. It all depends how hard you are on tools. I have a Dewalt cordless drill that has been abused over the years and never misses a beat.

If you have an ampmeter start doing some tests. It sounds like it could be a drain issue. Does it do it if you have only the lights on, or only the radio on, not both? Keep us informed.

There are specialty spark plug boot pullers, too....
There are specialty spark plug boot pullers, too. I know I had to use them on the corvette. Sometimes they really get stuck on there.
