OP, you should be getting around 20 MPG, Im assuming you're in NYC. I have gotten as high as 23 in the past when the car was younger and in better shape.

I paid $35 for the press in at the machine shop. All in the job was under $200 including a few tools I had to buy.

same problem here, i assume you mean an indy shop. i could see midas/meineke etc saying that they only sell you the whole resonator assembly and banging you out for $400 in the process.

Just do yourself a massive solid and bypass the bose speakers. i upgraded my HU and got 4 pioneer speakers and wired them to my HU directly bypassing the bose amp. the sound is significantly better...

I wouldn't say it's money blown at all...you need to replace the speakers and bypass the bose amp altogether for much better sound. the ohm rating for the bose speakers is set up for that bose...

I'm going to conclude its the wheel bearing. I changed my rotors a month ago due to warping so these are brand new. Could've been caused by the bearing.
