In all areas direct sunlight and dry heat is the #1 cause of wiper deterioration - aka "dryrot". #2 in all areas is older windshield glass that becomes pitted and essentially has a sandpaper affect....

I replaced my OEM's with 'Trico NeoForm Beam Blades' that I got online. They wipe great and are super quiet. They've got a teflon coating that makes them/keeps them quiet. They come in 28" and 17".
