my 83 maxima manual drive shaft and 84 maxima automatic drive shaft are different at the spline. (just for anybody's reference. I know this is an old thread).

I ended up drilling the block, to mount the maxima's oil pick up. I felt better about the fitment (and I don't weld). I used a small magnet to remove the shavings. Flushing with brake cleaner doesn't...

You said you had your sump flipped and tweaked.
