Never seen your car with the 22's but I can tell you right now they probably looked hideous!!! Definitely at least put your stock 17's back on...I don't know if black would look good with the Merlot but I think a nice dark gunmetal would go good.
i think most people would choose gunmetal. personally i can't stand the fact that black/gunmetal are used as a one-size-fits-all solution for wheel color. if it doesn't contrast (bright colors) or match then it just looks cheap and ugly.
what i hate almost equally is that painting oem wheels or using oem wheels off another car has become a substitute for aftermarket wheels.
I say gunmetal. Bronze is nice, but not with red. Bronze needs blue, dark grey, dark green, or black to look decent.
I think gunmetal looks sharp with a dark color car, as long as the chrome trim is gone too. With black window trim, gunmetal wheels, and red-smoke tail lights on a dark colored car, it's a nice combination.
