looks pretty good but the edges on the bottom are a little soft.
I would try making a selection of the part you want to erase with the pen tool (i'm assuming you're using Photoshop.)
After you create the shape with the pen tool, you can right click and make a selection of it and then manipulate it as you choose.
Give it a whirl.

thanks...actually yea, a little CS4 and a little PSP X.
the soft edge was intentional (shadowy/mysterious 3d effect) but i see what you mean.
