I have the older 4.0 version on my desktop and it works great....even though I have no idea of what 1/2 the features actually are.

Photoshop CS3 here... elements is a good start to see if you wanna drop the coin for the full version.

BTW - Current college students, if you want to get photoshop CS3 as well as some of the other awesome Adobe products for a steal, check out academicsuperstore.com as they often have student versions for pennies on the dollar of the retail prices. I got the full premiere CS3 suite (illustrator, photoshop, indesign, image ready, and acrobat pro) for less than 400 bucks (though mine was through my school).

here's a direct link to CS3 design http://www.academicsuperstore.com/ma...?PartNo=798207

i have photoshop CS2.
I didn't think it was really worth it to get CS3 since i can do everything i want to with CS2.
I was actually using photoshop 7.0 up until a few months ago and that served me just fine.

Elements is..ehh.. to even start with. If you aren't gonna do much, tiny editing here and there, okay stick with it. But if you're looking to do even something a little good, I'd move up ASAP. Maybe not to like CS3 or CS2, but definitely at least to like PS7.
