Datsun F10
Just wondering, does anyone know why Datsun made this model FWD?
I went to the junkyard a few days ago, and found a nice 1971 Datsun F10, body was in fairly good shape but the interior looked like this car has been sitting under some pine trees on a farm since the 80's or 90's. Good otherwise, 4spd stick too.
A guy comes up to me and asks to use my toolset, its a nice set but i said go for it and didnt want to hound him by standing by him and went back to the F10 nearby to look at the engine. He comes back, crawls under it, and says "what the hel1, this things FWD". I thought what a n00b because FWD was so uncommon back then. sure enough, took a look under it and it is FWD. Went on Wikipedia and all gens of it were made FWD.
I was considering buying it whole when i thought it was RWD, kinda surprised they didnt sell it as a builder for $500 but since its FWD i dont want it. Just out of curiosity does anyone know why Datsun would have made FWD back then when everyone was making RWD?
