Keep it. Looks fairly clean and the cars are just getting harder to find in decent shape. Only do the 5-lug swap if you really want to or come across a 5-lug Cobra brake kit for a VERY good deal. Other than that there are not many reasons for the swap. Looks like some of the most basic mods have already been done so look for a good shifter. I'd keep it and just modify as I go along and keep it fun.

I'd definitely keep it.

Pre 94 mustangs came in 4 lug. 94-newer are 5 lug. Check out 50resto.com if you want a 5 lug conversion kit.

Flowmasters don't add too much power for those but they sure sound the best.

Only thing I would do to it is the 5 lug conversion and convert to disc brakes in the rear. Maybe some torque converter reinforcement and subframe connectors if you drive it like it should be.

Too be honest, my dream car had always been a convertible 88-93 Stang GT. Even though they are not as powerful compared to today's standards, the stang from Aerosmith's 'Crazy' video made me jizz myself.

Sorry, meant to say torque box. Check it out for yourself, they are a common weakpoint on foxbodys.

This thread makes me miss my first car. 91, Black on black on black, 5 speed convertible. My dad bought it new in 91, stored it until I turned 16 in 95. Had to sell it a year later after I mistakenly passed my parents on the road doing about 125mph. God I loved that car.

Was it the Mustang or Alicia Silverstone?

Nice find. Fox bodies are a great platform to work with. Tons of potential..

It may be fast off the line, but what about the rest of it?
Last time I toyed with a 5.0, my VE would take them from a roll every time.

But yeah, I love Fox bodies... and they can go fast for cheeeap. lucky bastages. Just watch cooling if you decide to road race it. they run into cooling issues if you beat on them more than 1/4 mile at a time.

Looks like the paint is in great shape which is probably a rare thing. I read about how easy it is to get big power from that 5.0. Such an under ultilized powerplant.

Nice stang. My favorite body style for the mustang. I would hang on to it, since they are hard to find in good shape.

As long as the engine is healthy a VE Maxima isn't keeping up stock for stock.

+1 on both accounts, plus the cooling thing is no biggie. My ls1 is cooled by a 150$ griffin universal radiator

The 302 out of the factory is only a shadow of what it can be. It has a cam that was also used in marine applications for maximum torque and the stock heads although fine for the time.. are a joke today.

probably 2.73s but i dont remember what all the options were

i'd say its a REAL good idea to supercharge
find a lightly used kit for cheap!

Powerdyne superchargers are like the '96- '98 NPI 4.6L GT's...weak knee'd twits. Novi 1220-SL is better but you can find low mileage ProCharger D1's and Vortech S-trim blowers setups for not much more.

As far as stock ratios, 2.73's or 3.27's for the most part. Occasionally find some with dealer opted 3.55's. Oh, and if you are going boost then look into a turbo kit. 3.73's are little short with a 5-speed but won't make a lot of difference with with the turbos the basic single kits come with.

As far as stock ratios, 2.73's or 3.27's for the most part. Occasionally find some with dealer opted 3.55's. Oh, and if you are going boost then look into a turbo kit. 3.73's are little short with a 5-speed but won't make a lot of difference with with the turbos the basic single kits come with.
i really dont wanna make it rocket fast but i do like a little around 300hp and i do like the RAW torque of blower..i wanna drive it and enjoy it...i wont be going to the tracks....but lets see thats for now....if i have any future plans i would definitely think about turbo...but for now i dont wanna go that far...jus working on it slowly slowly and lets see where i end up...

If you want a lot of torque I'd look at a positive displacement blower though.

Not that the other blowers wont make torque, just wont be as soon in the powerband as a positive displacement blower.

For superchargers with a manual trans find a Kenne Bell, I saw one on ebay a couple weeks ago for a fox 5.0, you don't see too many of them.

S-trim kits are cheap as hell, but they don't compare to the KB. Then again for the price you can find them for it's hard to beat.

3.55's will really start to shine once you get more power under it, and some stickies

Then you might wanna just do a heads, intake, and cam package. Make well over 350 hp while still laying the groundwork for future mods. It's a lot easier going that route and adding a blower or turbo later. I've found a good h/c/i setup on these cars to be MUCH more fun to drive than sticking a blower on the stock engine. The stock T-5 is something to keep in mind here, staying n/a will keep it happy a little longer.
