So this Blazer got dropped off at work at couple of weeks ago in need of a fuel pump. The owners either did not want to repair it or couldn't afford to. To make a long story short, I bought it as is for 800 bucks. I put a fuel pump in it to get it up and running.
It has 123K miles and it is 4X4. It is in good condition, the body is pretty darn straight. When I inspected the undercarriage, It unbelievably had no leaks!! It also has 4-wheel disc brakes and a heavy duty Bilstein suspension!! I've decided to keep it for now, especially since we could use a new family car so we don't have to use the Maxima. Since I decided to keep it for now, I replaced:
Fuel pump - $220.32
Idler & Pitman arms - $39.19
Two front tires and alignment - $168.93
Plugs, wires, cap and rotor - $66.97
T-stat - $5.00
Used ft door panels - $100
Total -
$600.41
I also replaced the rear pinion seal, rear diff cover, flushed the tranny, transfer case, ft & rear diffs, brakes & cooling system. Since I manage an auto repair shop, there was no charge for this. LOL...
It also needs a windshield. The current on has a big old crack across the bottom. Big deal!! LOL
I've got $1400 invested in this vehicle. Low private party value is around $4100. Since used car values are rising, I figured we could drive it around for a couple of years and at least double our money when it's time to sell it. LOL
Anyway, here are some pics of our new famride. It it sure the heck feels weird owning a Chevy again!!! LOL
