There's quite a duramax community around here. I went to school with a guy that's got an 11 sec duramax as well.

Cummins 610 doesn't keep up with the current DM's. I've poured over ALL of this while helping a friend truck shop about a year ago in the 3/4-ton diesel offerings. CTD or PSD need more parts (and very expensive ones) in terms of fueling and turbo/exhaust work to do what the DM's do with factory parts. It's simply the best setup factory offering going at the moment. Take a DM and nothing but a good tuner and run high 13's. Tried that with a friend's 2500 Ram with a CTD 610 and it blew the freeze plugs out of the block running a hot tune. Still didn't get out of the low 14's.

Oh, and 610 lb-ft @ 1600 rpms is hardly > 650 lb-ft @ 1600 rpms. Latest 6.7L CTD is 650 lb-ft and the latest DM is 660 lb-ft but I really wouldn't want either compared to the pre-ULSD/DPF versions.

While I think the truck is rediculous, it is amusing. The DM is a fully built twin turbo unit and the truck is on 4 MT drag radials. 60 foots are in the 1.7s. It's also used as a daily work truck. Insane.
