Nissan Cube

so I looked for the old thread that was here but couldn't find it. So my friend/roommate/boss just pick his up yesterday, his first Nissan. The thing is huge on the inside, and feels (as my gf puts it) squishy awesomeness, it feels very comfy. The one ride that I'v had in it, seems to handle nice, when getting on the highway, the engine held at 4g rpm and the CVT did it's job nicely. He said it has a smaller turning radius then his celica that he traded in. It's getting a system installed right now, will try to get some pics soon. I think he got the 1.8s model, he was looking for the Krōm but couldn't get one, theres not that many shipped, the dealer found one on the east coast and that dealer said they would trade a 370 for it, so that was a no go, and for the 4g price difference between the 1.8s and the Krōm he gets to put in a aftermarket dvd head unit and his subs that he had in his old car, and I'm sure he will be getting some rims for it soon.

Has anyone else had a chance to check out the little box yet?

IMO the thing looks horrible.. on the outside. Interior looks roomy and comfy. And I am sure it will be reliable... The box look just does nothing for me...... And like I said just my opinion...... When we looked at Armada's and Pathfinder's I checked one out...

It's growing on me looks much better than the xB, that still looks like a matchbox.

I guess this thing is really huge in Germany. I guess they are tired of the Smart cars.

meh, some people like odd styling. I'm not one of them. The car offers a lot, but I wouldn't buy one.

I've seen 'em at the car show and local nissan dealer. Even a few on the streets here in calgary. They are absolutely FUGLY and the XB looks way better even though its hideous too! Did you know the cube has an option to have a patch of shag carpet on the dash??!... wtf

Good value, I guess it's similar to a Scion and a little smaller than an Element. They are unique and I think the look takes a bit to get used to. At first I didn't like the Scions and now I like them.

If I lived in a big city, I might rock a Cube. Not my thing for the highway, though. I like to have a "touring" car and that's why I bought an FX35. My wife really wants an Element and that would be better around town, but I tested one out and I wasn't too pleased with it on the freeway.

They have a dark brown Krom one on the lot here in my town (The Dalles, Oregon). It has been there for about a month. I haven't seen any sold here, though. Kind of a conservative town and most people have to drive a decent amount (80 miles) on the freeway to get to a major city.

he says he feels like he is in a big truck while driving it, he is leaving to day to go to vagus and then LA, so I'll see what he thinks of it on the freeway, what kind of mpg he gets on long trips, and how it does climbing the hill going out of town.

kudos to your friend for buying something unique, although it's not my cup of tea.
did he check out its competitors?
edit: saw that he checked out the xB...i guess that's main competition. kia soul, honda element are others i can think of.

yea he checked them, looked at a xB, and Leo (artist at the shop) has a element.

well hes back from his first road trip with it, said it wasn't to bad on the highway, but does get blown around a bit by the wind (really who would have thought) he likes all the room inside, hard to say what he's going to be getting for MPG due to it's still in break in. I'm sure he will be getting rims for it soon, I'll post some pics when he does, and anything else that comes up with it.

the bad side of him getting a new ride for me is that there will not be any me getting $50 knock off my rent for oil changes and such, cuz I'm sure that he will be taking it in (or least I'm going to tell him to) so that there can be no dispute on the warranty (he also bought the extended).

It has the tail lights that flash when you hit the brakes, they pay like a $1000 of your deductible if you get rear ended.

Guy down the street from me is a GM @ a big Nissan dealer here in Chicago and hes got a nice Chevelle SS big block in the garage, V8 Pathfinder, 300C, Lifted Tahoe and a Cube Krom. From what my buddy who works for him says.... he actually BOUGHT the Cube. Its fuggly as hell looking.

My choice would be Kia Soul.... Scions have problems with VVTi failing causing some serious $$$ damage to your pocket. Hyundai's Beta motors are old school, tried motors.

Nah, my dream car is a original Audi Coupe urQuattro from the 80s. If I wanted a boxy car on wheels... Kia Soul. Its cooler looking, larger, actually moves with the bigger engine and M/T tranny.

I can see this car being a hit in San Francisco.

I looked at them at the dealer.. me dont like.

Looks like it would be fun to play frisbee with the round patch of carpet on the dash. Wheels looked kind of dinky.. like they should be on a go cart.

yea a lot of houses are like that down here, it's the wild west, bars on the windows and houses that are set up for shoot outs with block walls around the backyard, you should travel more and see the different house set ups in different areas
