This isnt for me its actually for my 60yr old mother. She has a G coupe now but is using my I35 so she can fit her golfing freinds in the back. She likes the coupe but wants a full size sedan again.
Shes a little different than most women in their 60s though. She was the one encouraging me to do dougnuts in my Rx7 which the local school dissaproved of and voiced such to me after getting my plate number on camera, Damn bad influencers.
She wants something that is luxurious decently quick and kinda sporty. She doesn't like "old peoples" cars.
Big things are she wont buy german cars, she wont look at FWD cars and its gotta be a luxury car.. she wont drive a car like a ford taurus or something, knowing her, she'd just keep her g35 coupe if she had to do that. Lastly its gotta be automatic
Cars I identified right away were the Acura TL (got nixed because of the FWD). She basically likes my I35 but wants a RWD car.
And the other cars are an M35 sport (like an 06) or if she could fit in a G35 sedan that would work too but I dont think it will be quite big enough.
And the other car I thought would be perfect was a cts-v but they dont come in auto and the regular cts is too plain jane for her and prob too slow.

you can find a newer m35/45 in that price range. There is a 2006 m45 in the wheels and deals here for 28K
Yeah like I said I think the M35 is the best option, but I just saw that the brand new style G35s have dropped well into that price range and I brought one of those home for a few nights when I was working for Infiniti and she really liked them. So if she can overlook the luggage capacity, that might be a good option for her too.

I didnt catch that. I definitely would get a new g sedan over an m35. they look really good and are pretty quick for such a big car. I think should would be happy with it, i know my mom would
she said no german, but BMW is'nt german. get a used 7 series

BMW is german, she wants reliable with low cost to service. So BMW, Mercedes, Audi are all out immediatly in her mind.. I havent even tried to argue with her about this but I have tried to argue the fwd thing (she doesnt feel like she can control a fwd car in a skid like a RWD car.. ehh I like rwd too but I wouldent ever consider FWD in anyway less safe but she wont hear it)
GS430 is a good suggestion. Hadent thought of that but generally they want more money for lexus than the competing infiniti model but its deff worth a drive at least
S60 would fall under the same lines as the german cars and I wouldent put her in a volvo or saab.. we had a lot of them come in and they always were pretty beat feeling for their mileage.

Gotcha. I would get a GS400/430 over a M35. M45 might be even/pushing it. GS can be had cheap, it is the current gen that is still in the mid to upper 30's

I dont think she'd need the M45. The m35 might be a little slow for her but it should get the job done, shes used to driving an 03 G coupe or my 02 I35 and I've brought both cars to the drag strip and my I35 was easily faster.
She likes having more power but mileage is on her mind too. They drive across the country with the car so they want to be able to really get 25 mpg when cruising on this highway.

Gotcha, gs300 lolz
I guess w/e she likes, I know alot of people on here will be infiniti homers; I am just trying to throw out others nice/nicer cars

Yeah its kinda hard to change her mind on some things. She used to be a german car nutswinger after having a benz that lasted forever. She then got another benz around when chrysler and benz joined up and the car was a PITA to get any work done on. So I got her into the G coupe and she loves that car.
The GS was a good suggestion. I think she'd want the V8 if she got that car. THe GS300 was kinda slow but again.. prob worth the drive

There aren't many to choose from if you want RWD, non-German and luxury.
G35 sedan
M35/45
Lexus GS
Lexus IS
G8
Chrysler 300/Dodge Charger
Maybe go with an FX35 RWD.
I have an AWD and I like it. I bought my 2005 AWD for around $20k with 44k miles. The mpg will suffer some compared to a sedan. I think the RWD is 22 on the hwy.
I think I would lean toward Infiniti M or G sedan or a Charger R/T if she could swing a new one and get the lifetime warranty. I might have a little more sporty taste than your mom, though.
I can't think of much else except Jaguar (not known for reliability).
I drive Lexus's for a living. Nice luxury sports sedan they have is the IS350, they're exactly at 30k for most used ones. The GS line is nice, but much more expensive. IS350 is spacious, hella quick for having so much leather only comes in automatic, 306 hp, RWD and has some pretty decent trunk space. Plus the navigation system's killer. Or she could get an IS250 with 6 spd mt and she'd be ballin' jk.

I thought BMW was based out of somewhere else. gran turismo lied
BMW stands for Bavarian Motor Works (english translation). Bavaria is in Germany. Doesn't get more German than that.
To the OP: I would let her drive the Lexus GS, the Infiniti M35, and the previous generation Acura RL and let her decide. All those cars are extremely nice and can be had under $30k in good condition.

what about an srt10 ram quad cab. they are automatic, with a huge "trunk". if she couldnt get in it, bag it. then she would have the fattest and fastest truck around

...she wants a car that she can take her friends around in. If she didn't want a back seat, she would just keep her G35C. And a 10 mpg fast-in-a-straight-line POS truck doesn't exactly fit the expectations, here....

No it's not. I cannot fit in the back seat and I am 5'10". My head hits the ceiling. It is the size of a corolla
Used GS = 20-30k
FX is a good choice as well. Forgot about those, they pretty much drive like a car

Is350 I know is too small. They are really tight in the back seat. If you look at it from the ouside, its almost like a coupe with 2 half doors on the back. Those rear doors are pretty short.
RLs are tough to find around here and usually on the higher end price wise, but another good suggestion though

Genesis is a GREAT car, I am sure the v8 can be had for under 30grand. But I have read that the future model is gonna have the 4cyl shutoff so it will get better MPG

Genesis ( the interior is just money for its price)
G8
Ford tarus Sho ( and you lend her the difference)
I'd honestly rather something used and pocket the extra money. There are enough options out there to do so and still fall short of the max budget. Plus she said she doesn't want a non-luxury car; pontiac and ford aren't exactly in that category (yes, to some people this is important...stupid to me, but whatever)
