So who's going to get a Hyundai Genesis?
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...dan/index.html
Man if this car was around when I traded in my Max I would have been all over it!!
375 hp, rear wheel drive all found in an actual clean looking traditional sedan.

i admit the car looks hot, i seen a few on a trailer heading to a dealership and i didnt realize they were hyundai until i saw the lone tiburon hanging on the back. Id love to check one out in person, see how the quality is compared to other hyundai cars. I cant wait for the genesis coupe..i wonder if a tweaked version of that V8 will ever make its way into the genesis coupe...possible 375-400hp v8 rwd hyundai coupe anyone?

You can't polish a turd. That being said, Hyundai has come a LONG way in the last 10 years. I went from 'I will NEVER buy a Hyundai', to, 'Maybe someday'. The maybe depends on them continuing the trend they are on though.

the new for 2006 sonata was the "maybe someday' car...
the azera was the "scratch your head and really think about it car"
the genesis is the get off your a*# and go get one Hyundai...doesnt get any better than that. powerful v8, rwd, nice design, lovely interior wit good fit and finish and a good warranty.... its a smallish lexus ls that can hang with the gs for the price of the es!!!! maybe someday???

I think it's funny how people don't think that Hyundai can't make a good car. I'd venture to say that Hyundai is making better quality cars these days than most American manufacturers.
Hyundai builds 350,000 ton supertankers, I'm sure they can build good cars

Any manuf. who puts money into it can make good cars. The problem is that the demographics for each model don't care about having a GOOD car enough to pay for it, thus it doesn't happen.

I didn't say that they don't make good cars today, I said they have come a long way in the last decade, they used to make total crap. I had a neighbor that almost died when his caught on fire in the 90's. Personally, I'm giving them a few more years before I completely trust there product, but I have been impressed so far.

^^ I was only quoting you out of convenience, not directly responding to you personally...
I'm not 100% sold on Hyundais either, but they're getting close to companies like Nissan in terms of quality (still probably have a way to go to get to Toyota, lol).
the reason their old cars were cheap crap is because they wanted to make cheap cars for cheap people....now they decide to make quality cars for non-cheap people and I'm sure they'll do fine....

Preliminary reviews don't put the Genesis handling/driving experience anywhere near that of a GS. And it may have the price of an ES, but there are a lot of choices in that price range, and I'm not terribly impressed by the list of "luxury features" either. Most of those features are available on plebeian cars like the Camry (some even come standard on upper trim levels). Hyundai is hoping to recreate the success of Lexus, but times have changed and copying what Lexus did 10 years ago simply will not work today. Hyundai must come up with something really revolutionary if they want to make a go at the luxury market. Currently I don't see any market for the Genesis, unless there is an untapped market of Buick buyers who want RWD.

I always thought all the tiburon needed was rear wheel drive.
Here's a link to the coupe.

And the HKS SEMA car.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... give it a manual and we're talking. I do like the car.
And those "Porsche style" exhaust tips look horrible on it.
