this is actually going to be a good move for Nissan if the truck has a good, strong Nissan exterior. The hemi (HV57DE), the ram's new suspension/frame and interior are the best of the best and its what the Titan needs. Tundra killer!!!!

not to mention the "Hemi" really doesn't have hemispherical cylinders. It's all marketing bs.

no engine has hemisperical cylinders.. Hemis have hemisperical combustion chambers (which is because of the heads) every engine I've taken appart is a "hemi" including a mustang 5.0 and my Ls1. I am pretty sure even the new hemis have hemisperical combustion chambers, pretty much every modern 2 valve engine has them.
Btw this is just another reason why I wouldent buy a Nissan.. especially a Nissan truck.. I hate all chrysler products and their divisions and subsidiaries

Dodge doesn't deal contracts like Ford/Chevy, they do however make the stoutest trucks you can buy.

First of all, sorry...i misspoke and meant combustion chambers, as a hemispherical cylinder wouldn't work very well . When you have a crying baby on your shoulder the brain doesn't work quite as well.
Second of all (and this was discussed in depth in another thread a few weeks ago), almost no engines have truly hemispherical combustion chambers these days. They have "wedge" or "kidney bean" shaped combustion chambers, which weigh far less and are more efficient. Ford hasn't used truly hemispherical combustion chambers since 385s back in the '70s.
And since I'm tired of talking about this, I'll leave you with a quote from the book "Hemi: The Ultimate American V-8," which I would think is pretty authoritative on the subject.....(stolen from wikipedia)
Quote:
|
Many of today's engines use active combustion chambers designed to tumble and swirl the fuel/air mix within the chamber for the most efficient combustion event possible.[18] These active chambers usually look like kidney beans or two merged small 'hemi' areas surrounded by flat quenching areas over the pistons.[19] By the end of the 1970s, development of engines utilizing true hemispherical chambers had ceased around the world; it has been supplanted and dramatically improved upon by newer designs. Today, "hemi" is little more than a copyrighted word that bears little meaning, descriptively, for the engines designated as such.
|
As discussed in the other thread, the last company to use a true hemispherical combustion chamber in a production car was Porsche, which had "hemi" flat-6s into the 90s....
just because the cc looks round with curved walls doesn't make it a "hemi"

trucks are only regaining a bit of ground because people who always wanted a nice SUV are getting them while dealers practically give them away to clear the lots. If people still had to pay regular-price for SUVs, they would be selling alot less right now...
Example: me.
We just bought an '08 4Runner, and got it well below invoice and MANY thousands below sticker. The dealer had a ton of them and freely admitted that they couldn't move them and the bargaining was strongly in our favor.... We got a V6, but the dealer offered us the V8, with the same options, for the SAME PRICE! That's how bad they want to get rid of the big-engine trucks......

Btw Irish we didnt end up going for the 4runner with 75K on it. My GF ended up getting an 03 V8 4runner with 55K on the clock instead and its in a lot better shape.. Even better I got it for 11K even. V8 supposedly gets 2-3 mpg less than the v6 even though its 4wd all the time and | |
