What happened Kia/Hyundia? I thought you were going to give us a cheap, turbocharged RWD coupe. I guess it's up to Nissan and Toyota/Subaru now.

So what if it looks like a Honda? It's tons better than their original designs! Pretty nice power out of a tiny 2.0 motor. 2 pc rotors too.

Can't believe they put all that torque into a FWD. The torque steer must be horrendous.

All the other major car makers are getting a call out though.

uh....it's called the Hyundai Genesis coupe, coming out next spring...

available with a 223hp turbo 4-banger for about $20k and a 310hp V6 for about $26k.

and it's RWD....

perhaps you're confused

better looking than a G, just as fast, and $15k less expensive.

I'd buy it....Hyundai's quality beat Nissan these days. As does their style.

Besides, you buy it for $26k and spend another $10 on extensive modding, and you have a car that will absolutely smoke a G37 (and perhaps an M3 or others), for still less money.

Bad logic. I could buy a Pinto and put $10k into it and smoke the Hyundai. What's your point?

Let me rephrase:

For $26k, you can get a car that is comparable in performance and looks to a $40k G37.

Besides, you'd have a fast Pinto, but it would still be a POS. I'm not Hyundai-lover, but I have no doubt that the interior and quality will be just as good as a G.

Neither can hold a candle to a 335i, though, so it's a moot point.

Wait so the Hyundai can spend $10k and be a G37 killer but the Infinti can't spend $10k and be a BMW killer?

Sure, it probably could. But:

Hyundai + $10k in mods = $36k
G37 + no mods = $36k

I was comparing the assumption of spending the same amount of money.

335i + no mods = $39k
G37 + $10k in mods = $46k

And no, I do not think a G37 with $3k in mods (same price as a stock 335i) would be superior to a 335.

I'm not sure what the argument is though...the G is a great car. It's just not the #1 best car in its class IMO.

My argument is that the Genesis can provide a car similar in performance to the G37 for a price that is far lower than any other 300hp RWD car that I can think of...

G37 vs BMW 335i equally equipped isn't $39k the last time I casually looked. More like $46k

The Center console looks like a Sony Mini Component system. Ugh. Good thing it's a concept I guess.

whatever...I'm not going to waste my time pricing out options, etc. I don't really care that much. I just took the base prices for the sake of simple comparison.

QFT...and those "couple of cars" would be
1. GT-R
2. The trucks and truck-based SUVs...
