Love the engine. Nice fast and reliable.. Unlike the current 335 turbos which seem to be problematic on the BMW forums.

330s are pretty damn quick. Low 14s with no problems. What's the aftermarket scene like on them?

I'm thinkng about an 06 330 or 07 328...depending on what I find good deal on in the spring. The only thing I really don't like is the damn wood/marble-looking panels on the dash/console...

You definitely can't go wrong with the 06 330 (less horsies in the 328 but still a win)
As far as the dash panels go, you can easily find one with aluminum trim. If that's still not your taste then there plenty of aftermarket solutions. It's an easy swap out, not that cheesy sticker ebay crap. I personally think the wood adds a lil classy look but hey

Car and Driver were able to pull sub 6sec 0-60 times apparently.
There's alot of aftermarket support. Albeit expensive. then again, the Max wasn't exactly civic cheap to mod either.

MPG? WAaaaaaaaaaaayy better than what I was getting with my Maxima.
If I drive like a mere mortal (keep in in the limit, yada yada) I can pull up to 30 mpg hwy/21 to 23 city

Driving like it's meant to be driven can drop that number significantly lower.

My friend has a 06 330i just like that but black and 6 speed auto. He constantly gets 22-23mpg with mixed driving(city/freeway) mostly city. On a recent trip to Vegas with 3 people we got 33mpg doin 85-90 all the way there. Nice car!

Yup. I read about that today. It's funny that I was reading on the Bimmer forums, that this was one of the things that had to be fixed under warranty. So I'll check and see if that was taken care of on this car.
