my 3rd gen got lucky today.

my 3rd gen got lucky today simply because it didn't suffer the crash i went through today with my BMW. so apparently my 335i wasn't lucky today i got off work early to go to school. so i am driving at normal speed limit and out of no where i see this Jeep SUV back up into my passenger side while im driving on the street and it just damages my two passenger side doors, rear quarter panel and scuff marks on the tail light. here are the pics:

cops showed up and gave the ticket to the other driver. turns out the guy that backed up into my car works for the bodyshop for South Motors BMW and i work for South Motors BMW. so it seems he will pay for his damages and his insurance will pay for all my damages. i should have my car back by the end of next week or the following. he was cool about the whole thing cuz he saw i wasn't giving him a hard time for what happened. no one got hurt so we were all good and just laughed about it. so i just took my car out the street and parked it at the bodyshop waiting for repairs to be made. just wanted to share this with you guys as to what happened today.

so.... if he works at the bodyshop.... he's repairing the car himself? that'd be kinda funny and would nicely transform 'epic FAIL' into 'teh funneh'

o and how much hp is the 3.5TT in that thing putting out?

he is not fixing my car. he is fixing his own. he's an adjuster for Allstate. i have Geico so i deal with a different adjuster but in the same facility since this bodyshop fixes all of our BMW cars from the BMW dealer where i work at. the specs for my 335i are as follows:
3.0-liter dual overhead cam (DOHC), 24-valve inline turbocharged 300-horsepower 6-cylinder engine with twin-turbo technology, piezo direct injection, and Double-VANOS steplessly variable valve timing

twin-turbo technology? they word that kinda funny-like. or is it some funky sort of single turbo that behaves like two? i want to make vvt for a vg that'd be nice.

That's good you can laugh about it! Sucks though, hopefully they do a good job on the body work and paint.

Isn't it like a sequential turbo...no turbo lag ftw. Those pictures want to make me cry hehe. You barely have had that for 4 months now?

well, its the dealers bodyshop so trust me their quality is not throwing bondo to cover up the dents. in cases like mine and even worse than mine they actually replace the panels and then paint it. when its done its like the car came off the showroom floor. so im really not worried on the quality since i know how good they are.

Then I take a chill pill.

But poor new car.

Well if they hit the 3rd gen the insurance company might have totaled it out and then there'd be no more 3rd gen...hehe.

it's not easy for the other guys insurance company to total your car. you can make them pay to repair it. You have no obligation to accept any offer from them about totaling it. Plus the 3rd gen takes a hit extremely well.

that it does... I owe $600 for an accident that wasn't my fault (i will be fighting to get it overturned, due to MASSIVE inaccuracies in the police report, among which reporting that I fled the scene... when it was actually the other driver who fled the scene). my car got a little scrape, the mirror was flipped forward, and if you feel REALLY careful there's a slight (.01s of an inch) indention just before the location of the door hinge. i'm going to argue to them that since she left the scene, she could have done ANYTHING to her car or body, including hitting a building or a parked car, before meeting with police, so that her situation looked worse. I met with the police and was on my way home before she even called the police.

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...aver/crash.jpg -> diagram of the accident scene
http://s164.photobucket.com/albums/u...aver/accident/ -> pics taken that night

numbers indicate timestamps.
4) she closes up on me rapidly and swings into the left straight lane to pass me, but since i was already making a signalled lane change, she was behind me, not beside me, so i could never see her when i looked over my shoulder
5) she goes halfway into the empty turn lane (not all the way otherwise she'd not have hit me) and then turns back into me a little bit, which is determinable by the way my car was hit (by nothing but her bumper and her mirror... no long side-by-side scraping happened)
6) she pulls back into the straight lane as i pull into the median
7) she looks at me, goes "oops"
8) she drives off, as i park to call the police

so explain to me why the insurance claim says that i left the scene??? she actually claimed to have been in the center lane the whole time... so explain how she hit me on my left when i was in the left lane..... she went back to the gas station (corner that i turned in step 1) about a half hour later, which was behind the scene, and called the police. i never got to see her car after the accident.

u r not even at fault...if she claimed that she was in the middle lane all the time then u were in the middle lane too to take a left turn....and if she was in the middle lane then she would have hit u on the right side not left side...plus she left the scene so i think u and her should sit face to face wit police and solve this situation....

yea see what happened is it was in september 2007.. and then the police report came up online a week later, i thought right then the report was BS so i called the police again and asked to speak with the reporting officer, and he came to my parents' house and we talked and he said "i'm VERY jumpy with writing tickets... and you didn't get one so you will be fine. we saw what her condition was, and although we are not medical experts so they cannot take our word that she was medically fine, we think she was exaggerating her condition. I thanked them and they went on their way (peeled out on the street in the cruiser haha). and then my insurance company took my statement like a week after that.... and my dad said that he called the insurance company (he always does ever 2 or 3 months just to ask if there's anything new he should know about with policies, options, coverage, etc, or to ask questions that have come up about how best to cover the cars/house etc) said it 'was settled'. come JUNE 2008 we find out that they put an insurance point ON ME and charged ME MONEY for the wreck. wtmff???? so yes, i will indeed be getting that ish fixed.
