Was that a slight to my sexual preference and my purchase choice?

love the old FJs!! A good buddy of mine has one that he did a full restoration on. It pretty much looks showroom brand-new, except he also has a big-block in it. He claims only 8mpg though (seriously) and ironiacally he drives a Tahoe as his "gas saver" lol..

as for your original question, my answer:

I haven't had to make that choice (4runner not in the pic either). The XJ gets a whopping 12mpg. It's like a Prius compared to your FJ

Nice find. Factory Toyota 3hi/3lo trans? I missed out on a chance to buy one of these a few years back.

My only suggestion is spend some time under the hood cleaning up that wiring.

Thanks.

I have taken it off road a little bit, thing is a beast. I do plan to do some weekend excursions out trail riding and camping, but it is mainly my weekend toy to cruise around in. Practical? Hell no! But I have an 07 Pathfinder to DD. That could never be my only car.

I do also have the full hard top, a soft top, and a bikini top. Right now I have the doors off it

Thanks. I was looking for an old FJ or an early Bronco for a long time before I found this one.

No Toyota drive train. The SBC is mated up to a 700RH trans (4spd auto). Most Cruiser heads don't like the swapped 40's, but it works better for what I use it for. Also has Power steering and disk brakes.

Yhea, the wiring is not real pretty. The previous owner(s) did a fairly good job on the resto but there are a few things that need to be gone back over, the wiring is one of them. Plan was to just drive and enjoy it this summer/fall and over the winter go through and clean a few things up. I did have to replace the carb already though and put some new seats in.

Too bad you don't have that trans. The three low gears make crawling up hills easy.

Already had to replace carb? Have you considered FI so you won't have any fuel issues when offroad?

She is a beauty. With each picture I get more jealous of you. Nice color too.
