VIDEO: GM releases Corvette ZR1's 7:26.4 'Ring attack
Alrighty folks. Here it is. The General has released the in-car footage of the Corvette ZR-1 lapping the Nurburgring in 7:26.4, hitting 180 mph on the 12.9-mile straight and beating out the Z06's time, set in 2005 by Jan Magnussen by almost 17 seconds. Jim Mero is behind the wheel and just as a reminder; the lap was done on the same Michelin Pilot Sport 2s as the production model, and retains the same ride height, engine calibrations and emissions equipment, along with running pump gas.

Jesus christ that is some incredible driving.
Also, one handing it at 130mph in the middle of a turn while concurrently braking for the next and heel-toeing FTMFW.

V-spec
The ZR1 video was much more entertaining than the GT-R one. That car is composed but still more of a handful.

i am at a loss for words...
That is one seriously good car. And at some parts you can see where he messed up and threw his hand in the air, not sure if he would have been able to go quicker though without those mistakes.
And its funny reading the comments about this cars suspension being bad, this guy was driving this car through some insane turns with one hand, ripping around a track and having to shift gears and work a clutch is just a whole different ball game.
damn the car just seemed like so much fun on that track. I still want to see a viper acr ring time though

i saw this this morning and was just blown away.
Definitely a lot more entertaining than the GT-R's video. Probably the most entertaining RING video to date actually.
My god the driving in this vid is just flat out ridiculous. This car is a monster! This car almost seems like the F430 Scuderia, "make mistake, I kill"

Not bad can't go wrong with a RUF. I still feel the ZR-1 is a bit more entertaining. For one the quality is better. Two I feel there is a lot more sense of speed from the ZR-1 vid. If the RUF vid was all in car cam watching him saw at the wheel like crazy would have been a lot cooler then a helicopter view and such. Still a good vid none the less car looked like a complete handful.

So, the less competent a car is, the more entertaining it is, and is automatically better for it.
Someone plz tell the automakers this sekret...........

Yeah, Streetfire emailed this to me a few days ago. Crazy video. Looks like it handles itself pretty good, but the GTR seemed a bit more steady; which didn't make for as good of a video though.
Wonder when Chevy is going to update the interior of the vette... probably never.

I just enjoyed the ZR-1 vid better. I apologize I didn't splurge all over the RUF.

What? Better for what?
Full-on rear engined oversteer at 120mph is definitely more entertaining to watch than the GTR's "gran turismo" lap. Cars that do everything for you are impressive engineering feats but as you can probably guess I'd rather be driving the yellowbird, even if it that much slower.

Please to be explaining where the line between "more entertaining" and "flawed concept and execution" is drawn......

I'm not a fan of the yellow bird. To me it's simply a flawed machine.

What did the GT-R do for a time? I think the ZR1 > GT-R in all ways.

No line needed; they are not on the same spectrum.
You may think the Porsche handles like crap, others will disagree. There is no debating that it's a handful around the track but that doesn't mean it is flawed, it's merely a matter of preference.
