You could probably pick up an '04 Mazda3 "i" with ~50k miles for around $10k. Might even be able to find an "s" model for that much with 75k miles or so. Don't know where you're located but check cars.com.

We just sold our '04 Mazda3 "s" (the 2.3L) with 17k miles for $12k....it was a great car. Only sold it because we bought the 4Runner and didn't need the Mazda anymore.

Besides that...you can't go wrong with a early '00s Civic either if you just need basic transportation - or even an early '00 4-cyl Accord.

Does it have to be an import? SVT Foci are selling for ~10k, although it can be hard to find the 4 door ones.

hmmm interesting. What kind of gas mileage did you get on your Mazda?

Yes, it has to be an import...I've worked for Chevrolet/Hummer for 2+ years and rode in a bunch of domestic cars and interior quality, motor quality/sound, and just overall=blah...all the cars that we've had in the family were "imported" as well, even though they were assembled in Mexico or TN...

That's why I'm looking for a pure breed
