wow is that ugly. nissan is losing their ability to make any good looking cars anymore. They all look so bulky and have 20" wheels.

reminds me of a French-inspired RX-8
and that fog light assembly is identical to the ones on my wife's Mazda3...
Here's the main problem I see:
The original 240 was a lightweight sportscar, and looked that way too (2600lbs, IIRC)...
This one looks heavy as hell and will probably be pushing well over 3500lbs, knowing Nissan.
So really...it will be just like the RX-8...an underpowered 2+2 that doesn't match up to its predecessor (the RX-7, in Mazda's case).

they should put a 4cyl in it...put a 6cyl in it and its a direct competitor for the Z...
Plus the 240 was a 4-cyl. Would be nice if Nissan could put together a lightweight, great-handling pure sportscar ala the Honda's S2000 or Mazda's Miata.
we've been stuck with the bloated Z for too many years as the only option.

If this car is sub 3000 lbs i would consider it as probably one of the first new vehicles i will purchase.
It would be really nice if it does turn out to be a real enthusiast's car like the s2000 and miata.

do you realize that even the Sentra weighs over 2900lbs??? Nissan doesn't know the definition of "weight reduction"

This was referring to the 240 SX, not the 240 Z......All Z's have had 6cyls.
This car would be the heir apparent to the 240SX, which was always a 4-banger...

Camry's are FWD, four doors
this will be RWD, two doors
thats like saying the Subaru STi is made to compete with the camry because its a four-cylinder
not to mention nissan has a car that competes with the camry, its called the altima. If you love the camry so much go buy one, I don't understand this binge you have about toyota.

i think the car wont seriosly be able to compete against the other cars coming out in its "class" with the hyundai rwd coupe supposedly boasting 2 engines one with a turbo 4 banger, and the toyota/subaru colaboration. Nissan needs to figure a way to make another decent turbo 4 banger. we all know that 2.5 from the se-r will not cut it in a sport coupe like this (might pass as an entry level engine) but the sport version is going to need a little more power, or can make use of the power it is equiped with via light weight and great handling.
Remember our version of the 240/silvia was never a blistering speed demon in the straight line, it is praised for being light, rwd, and relatively fun stock...not sure if thats the approach nissan wants to take this time around, or do they want to go more for the pocket rocket trend thats goin around.

with gas prices the way they are, Nissan would be smart to go with a lower-powered (N/A 4cyl), lightweight car that people can drive every day to work or whatever, and then use on the weekends in the backroads and autocrosses.
That's what the 240 was - A daily-driver sportscoupe that even non-enthusiasts liked to drive. Indeed - most 240s were driven by non-enthusiasts.
Make it lightweight, ~200hp, fuel-efficient, and inexpensive and it will kill the competition. Oh, and it had BETTER come with a manual tranny. CVT would be a serious FAIL.

I find it funny that everyone always thinks renderings in magazines are the actual car, it isn't. These cars are pure speculation, while Nissan IS working on a car like that, it will not look like the above pictured car.

You know that if they brought the SR20DET over here with the car it would have been completely different, right? The KA24DE doesn't do the car justice. Oh, doesn't Matt own a 240sx?
I hope this new car has a small FI 4 cylinder, something like a TC 1.8. Apparently there is talk of making an Infiniti version with a 2.5 VQ instead of the 4 cylinder. I think that would be really nice.
