I went from a 06 6spd g35 sedan to a 05 cts-v and the infiniti doesnt even come close in any performance catagory.

Before I bought the V , i test drove alot of cars and no other 4dr car in a low 20k price range even came close on a fun to drive level/just plan go fast car.

The STi and Evo were top on my other 2 choices, but the cadi just drove alittle smoother and theres a sti or evo on every corner now at days.

09 CTS-V with 600 hp is going to be unreal, i think they are stepping it up to the 600hp porsche that is going to be realeased soon..
But the V will be about half the price...

Meet the V-Series Challengers – Preliminary List

By David Caldwell ⋅ October 23, 2009 ⋅ Post a comment
Filed Under CTS-V, Monticello Motor Club, V-Series Challenge
It all started on a phone conference Bob Lutz had with some automotive journalists. A few of those car writers took up the challenge immediately to match up with the Cadillac CTS-V in a time trial competition. Then Bob extended the challenge for any and all competitive car owners to take on the Cadillac CTS-V at the Monticello Motor Club. And the entries came early and often, with about 120 challengers stepping forward. Now we’re narrowing down to those best suited for battle. We might still add 1-2 more competitors before it’s all said and done.
The group of challengers, as it stands now, includes a few auto journalists and several private car owners, reflecting a good range of different cars and experience levels. We think it’ll make for a well-rounded group.

Let’s meet the preliminary list of challengers. First up, the automotive writers:
Name: Wes Siler – Jalopnik.com
Wes is road test editor for Jalopnik, the first and to take us up on the Challenge. Wes is a skilled and experienced driver and evaluator of cars, especially the fast ones.
Name: Jack Baruth – TheTruthAboutCars.com
Jack will be representing TheTruthAboutCars.com in the Challenge. Jack’s an experienced racer, on two wheels and four. He hails from Columbus, Ohio.
Name: Lawrence Ulrich – freelance auto writer
Lawrence contributes to The New York Times and other publications. He drives all manner of cars regularly, and has some track driving experience though he’s careful to point out that his experience has been on a non-competitive basis.

Let’s meet the initial group private car owners:
Name: Michael M.
Hometown: Whitecoff, NJ
Michael is a graduate of the Porsche driving school and a contributor to carguydad.com. He owns a BMW M5.
Name: Michael C.
Hometown: Long Island, NY
Our second Michael has trained at Skip Barber. At just 21 years old, Michael is the younger driver in the Challenge. He owns a BMW M3.
Name: Chris
Hometown: Ann Arbor, MI
Chris has recently bought a CTS-V, and wants to learn more about his car’s capabilities.
Name: Tom
Hometown: Philadelphia, PA
Tom drives an Audi RS4, has participated in the Audi driving school at Sonoma and has also done some autocross racing.

Plenty of other notable car enthusiasts will be there Oct 29 as well, either as participants or spectators. We’ll have more information about the competition and their cars in coming days so keep checking Cadillac Notes for all the latest news.

VIDEO: OnStar calls Hennessey after tuned CTS-V pulls .99 g

by Jonathon Ramsey (RSS feed) on Oct 24th 2009 at 8:03PM
The 700-hp Hennessy CTS-V meets OnStar -- Click above to watch video

On its way to doing the 1/4-mile in 11.07 seconds at 128 mph, a Hennessy-tuned 700-horsepower Cadillac CTS-V hit .99 longitudinal G as it left the start line. By the end of the run the phone inside the car was ringing, and it was your friendly neighborhood OnStar representative wondering "What the hell do you think you're doing?" Ok, not quite... but they did have some questions. Follow the jump to watch the video.

CTS-V Challenge Format and Schedule Revealed

By Daniel Pund | October 26, 2009

The Bob Lutz/Cadillac CTS-V smackdown/stunt planned for this Thursday at the Monticello Motor Club in upstate New York, will follow a simple five-lap format.
Each competitor, chosen by General Motors to take on Bob Lutz and the Cadillac CTS-V, will receive five consecutive laps of the course. So subtracting an out-lap and a cool-down lap, each competitor, of which there will be about 10 total, will receive three flying laps. The quickest single lap at the end of the day will decide the winner. There will apparently be no second-chance round.
The schedule of events looks like this (all times are Eastern):

8:30 am-11:30 am -- Track opens for practice
11:30 am-11:45 am -- Introductions, driver meeting, etc.
11:45 am-1:00 pm -- lunch
1:00 pm-2:30 pm -- timed laps

May the best Cadillac CTS-V, er, car win.

Cadillac CTS-V Challenge: Who Would You Put Your Money On?

By Ed Hellwig | October 26, 2009

Late last Friday, Cadillac unveiled its short list of participants in the CTS-V challenge. After receiving over 100 entries, the Cadillac brain trust narrowed the field down to three journalists and four consumers.
Cadillac provided brief descriptions of the four consumers and their cars while the journalists were also given token summaries. Cadillac says it may add additional entrants later, but the contest is Thursday, so assume this is the list for now.
Who would you put your money on to beat Bob Lutz?

Consumers:
Tom - Audi RS4
Michael C. - BMW M3
Michael M. - BMW M5
Chris - Cadillac CTS-V

Journalists:

Wes Siler - Jaguar XFR
Jack Baruth - Jaguar XFR
Lawrence Ulrich - TBD

CTS-V Answers the Challenge

By admin ⋅ October 29, 2009 ⋅ Post a comment
Filed Under Bob Lutz, CTS-V, V-Series Challenge
By Bob Lutz, GM Vice Chairman
Today, at the Monticello Motor Club in New York, the Cadillac CTS-V stood tall in the V-Series Challenge, a race pitting the CTS-V against several of the best production sedans on the market today — those that showed up, that is.
Here are the results from the track. There were no winners or losers today – the point was to have fun with great cars because that’s what they’re all about, and to show that GM vehicles can compete with the best in the world, in every class. It was a great day for the CTS-V, and an exceptionally fun day for me. I’ll have to issue another challenge so I can do this again sometime soon, although I wish I had started doing these when I was younger!

Just as I suspected in my previous posts... GM brought in some pro's against a bunch of amateurs.... I was expecting John Heinricy but Brian Redman that was a surprise!

That's cool I saw him at some USAC races many years ago in the middle 70's, I think it was Formula 5000.

one of two things will happen.
1) one of the many 600-800whp v2 ( or some road course junkie with a v1) guys are going to show up and lay a hurting on some mostly stock performance wise m5.
2) some stock cts-v will show up and a m5 will show up and having a good deal of mods and people would say its needed due to the power difference.
