Actually, if the CTS-V ever does get 600 hp, I would love to see that battle.
im not sure the cts-v would need 600hp to battle the gt-r when that comes out. but i just want to read on concrete hp/tq/weight/top speed/number of cup holders/etc stat on the gt-r before i can pass judgement on it
Any speculation about the styling of the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V can now be laid to rest thanks to our exclusive spy photos. Snagged during a photo shoot of the upcoming Cadillac super sedan, these shots reveal a CTS V-Series with a dramatically revised front end, bigger wheels and tires and a few modest changes out back.
Gone is the egg-crate grille that gives the standard CTS such a distinctive look up front. In its place is a two-piece trapezoidal mesh grille much like the setup on the original CTS-V. We suspect the mesh design does a better job of feeding fresh air to the engine, as Cadillac has boasted about borrowing the design of the standard CTS's grille from the Sixteen concept.
Although the airdam on the CTS-V is certainly aggressive, it doesn't appear as though it's much lower to the ground when compared side by side with that of the standard CTS. This could be due to the fact that there's no bump strip at the bottom of this prototype piece, a detail that could be added to the production cars.
The shape of the airdam is continued all the way around the car by extended rocker sills and a reshaped rear fascia. It's more subtle than we expected, although the car already has fairly aggressive bodywork to begin with. Even the hood bulge is pretty sedate, as it blends in perfectly with the rest of the original hood creases.
Of course, the big question still remains: What's under that hood? Our best sources have been telling us to expect a normally aspirated LS7 V8, but a recent interview with Cadillac General Manager Jim Taylor seems to confirm the other most talked-about option — a supercharged 6.2-liter V8. Either way, the 2009 CTS-V will have roughly 525 horsepower, a figure that will put it slightly ahead of direct competitors like the Audi S6, BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.
Taylor also confirms that the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V will offer the choice of a manual or automatic transmission — both six-speeds. This should help broaden the appeal of the CTS-V, which has been a sales disappointment so far. Look for the official unveil of the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show in January.

yup. ****ing retarded. the american public is too stupid to associate more HP with worse gas mileage. by the time this thing debuts, gas is gonna be $4+ dollars a gallon.
im shocked they are still wasting money on yukon, expedition and denali advertisements even tho those sales have fallen by over 50%.
smart car companies should be focusing on the turbo 4 cyls and v6 engines. my boss just got an audi 2.0 T and it rips plenty for me and still gets high 20s low 30s.

maybe you are stupid. this is a niche vehicle. no different then the few s4's that are sold or the m3's which will get sold or even the new bandwagon car which will be sold. all of these cars are being sold worldwide so i fail to understand why its americans that are stupid.
and you have no idea how many mile to the gallon this car will get yet you seem to already make assumptions on it.

cuz americans are the only ones buying up all the oversized hummers and f350s. you dont see those in beijing or paris or moscow. sure there are a rare few, but here they are all over the place. its not a coincidence we are seen as a nation of uneducated sloths. led by the king of all that is ignorant.
If gas was cheap over there, then they would be driving huge arsed cars/trucks also. It's odd that anything bigger than what YOU have is a gas wasting pig. Why do you have a V6 when you should be driving a crx or accord 4 cyl?

we buy hummers because we can, people in europe pay 80k for an h2 and they drive them around tiny lil roads. and ferrari sells about 40% of their cars here in north america.
maybe you need to leave the country more often and see what types of cars people really drive elsewhere and what they pay for them at the dealer.
ive seen hummers, navigators, escalades all over sweden. nigeria is full of suburbans and range rovers, england has astons, porsches, range rovers, land rovers and tons of other gas wasting vehicles.
maybe you feel that you are just an uneducated sloth or if you arent american then you are just jealous. and yes bush is ignorant
ive been to holland, france, greece, norway, england and lived in spain for half a year.
the percentage of trucks/suvs over there, per capita, is nothing compared to the united states. we consitute 11% of the worlds population but use close to 75% of the world's annual gasoline consumption.

we are also one of the most spread out and larger countries of any that you have listed. we also have probally thew longest commute to and from work by both distance and time compared to many countries.
i have live out of america for nearly 2 years in everywhere from africa to europe. and i have seen some of the most gas guzzling cars ANY country has to offer being driven. i've seen 79 eldarodos in malmo, hummer h1's on the highway in norway, lambos and ferraris in denmark just idling and aston martins in nigeria. modded 240s and skylines at jibbs. these are countries where gas is extremely expensive and yet those that can afford it are willing to buy these cars. if people were able to get a camaro at the same price we pay for it they would happily pay more for gas. what really keeps them from doing it is the huge importation tax they have to pay. my father-in-lax drives a z28 to work everyday in sweeden. i have never heard him say he would rather have a smaller more fuel efficent car over his more fun camaro.
If I was going to buy a $50-$60k car, I wouldn't give a rats a$$ if gas was $6 a gallon. these vehicles are low volume enthusiast cars for the affluent. If you think $6 a gallon is bad, what about the $1400 you'll spend on tires each year (they really only last about 10k-14k miles), $3k brake jobs, high insurance costs, and other expensive repair items associated with high performance cars.
If people decide to buy a car like that, they better make sure they can afford it.

i live in jersey...you come find me a way to get to and from work in the same time frame that i do know and i would happily stop driving my car to work to save you gas.
are you some random over worked, under loved forigner that just got a visa and needs to go on and on about how bad america is each time you get?

no actually my distant cousins are john and john quincy adams on my mothers side. my fathers side came over on the mayflower. i am as blue-blooded a wasp as you will ever find.
i care about my country and get very upset when i see the uneducated masses of america making poor decisions based on selfish merit. we are turning into a nation of afraid and obese anti-intellectuals. and the more we distance ourselves from the rest of the world, the less allies were gonna have when we actually need help - cuz that day is coming.
the numbers of people that hate us is growing. like all those homeless and parentless 12 year olds in iraq, that didnt give two ****s about america in 2002, now have somewhere to direct their hate. THOSE are the terrorists of tomorrow the people willing to die by flying a plane into a building......and weve made them....

so because we drive cars which require gas which we buy from iraq is helping to breed an age of plane flying terrorist? i never knew that us buying gas from iraq and giving them money makes them mad.
maybe we should just carpet bomb the whole place to ensure they wont "growup" hating us.
also why are they parentless and homeless? is gones mustang leading to their poverty?

That's why I own two gas guzzlers, It's a win-win for everyone. I get to have my fun powerful toys and a guilt free conscious knowing every time I fill up I'm sending lots of money to those kids. Hybrid drivers and alternative fuel hippies are the real root of our countries problems.
And yes I am aware it does not benefit them but I'm an American and do not care.
