#1. Acura TL-S vs. #2. Lexus IS350 vs. #3. Infiniti G35 at Willow Springs Racetrack

Driven by PROFESSIONAL driver Keiichi Tsuchiya TL-S, G35, IS350 were going at Willow Springs, CA race track.

TL-S, and FWD, prevail in this one. The FWD vehicle with less advertised POWER beat both RWD cars FULL 2 seconds.

1. TL-S 6MT - 1:36:67 sec
2. IS350 - 1:38:24
3. G35 6MT - 1:38:67

Video of the TL-S ONLY at Willow Springs

Pics from the Japanese magazine the article was in.

Dude looks so calm whipping the car around. Engine sounded so smooth as well. I've seen Keiichi Tsuchiya in a lot of videos. He always seems to be driving a Honda/Acura product and I know he is a big fan of the Integra. I think that may even be his personal ride. I wonder if that familiarity led to faster laps.

I find that extremely hard to swallow. Both the Lexus and Infiniti would spank a Acura in acceleration and as good as a FWD can be the TL-S does not perform better than the new G or IS. I'd say it's a little biased.

I found it funny that he wasn't wearing a helmet, but yet he had gloves on.

Numbers seem funny too

The only thing I can think of is the extra weight of the driveshaft and rear differential that may have slowed the G and IS down. I always say, it's not all about 1/4 miles times, it's how it performs on the track that impresses me

I'm aware of that. My car actually is doing it right now since I removed my LTB and have my rear illuminas set to 5, but for a factory FWD car, understeer is usually dominant.

Scratch what I said there. The G35 sedan weighs 3532lbs and the TL-S is 3559lbs.

Hondas only DOHC V6 was the C32/C30 in the NSX....

The V6 used in all FWD cars are SOHC.

VQ35 is NOT the best engine in the world, if you think so- obviously you do not drive cars much, nor do you know much bout cars eighter. Because for every VQ powered car out there- there IS a better counterpart.

I aint hatting on the VQs in general, just the 3.5L POS ring land cracking motor. I will take ANY Nissan PRE 2002 without ever even thinking twice.

Not saying you're wrong, but every source I looked at said DOHC, because I checked several to make sure I wasn't nuts for thinking that. I guess they just assumed that due to the 24-valve setup

Thanks for correcting me, though. I don't mean to misinform.

Its alright, its SOHC. They use fairly advanced- for its time locking rocker arm design with solid lifters with adjustable valve lash for valve train.

I know cause sometimes they code for misfires due to exhaust valves being too tight from the factory. Requires removal of IM, valve covers and checking and adjusting valve lash.

No biggy, J-series motor is a piece of cake to work on. Excellent engine, they never leak or have any issues really.

I worked for Nissan, Audi, independent, Hyundai, Subaru... and Honda is just so forgiving and easy to work on + reliable that I would hate to work for any other car company. Plus they really treat their customers with dignity.

Ehh why I very rarely come on here to begin with. Nissan loving people.... I pitty you. I was VERY die-hard bout Nissan, but in the last few years I noticed that their quality, design and customer service are on par with that of mid to late 80s Hyundai.

I have 2 Maximas currently to burst your bubble. Both are OLD with ALOT of miles on them and on original VG and VQ30 motors.

I work on alot of cars, pretty much from A-Z I seen it all in the last 10+ years. Nissan can't build a car now to save their life. They are becoming what the big 3 used to make in the 80s- garbage.

Hate all you can, I really can care less. I will enjoy wrenching on Hondas MUCH more than ANY Nissan tech enjoys wrenching on Nissans..... and I drive Nissans.

Hah, I'm not defending Nissan in any way. I'm pointing out your useless informative posts and typical "If it's not a Honda, it's garbage" statements.

I don't drive a Nissan, I drive a BMW. Which, I might add, has only seen the dealership once in the first 4500-5000 miles thus far (which was for a minor TSB). But guess what, I don't even open up my wallet for anything. Have fun replacing parts at your expense when stuff fails on the cars you own.

Yeah cause I say Honda is the ALMIGHTY company that I only buy cars from.... yeah OKAY. In this case people are dissin the TL when they have not even driven one.

Buy what you like, pay interest on cars all your life. Guess what... in the last 2 years I have not spend a DIME on parts on any of my cars...... pays to know the Nissan parts & service district manager. So you know what while my cars are 16 and 6 years old each- I still have warranty on them

Am I telling you to go buy a Honda ? No.... And if I was in a market for a car now I would probably buy a older used Lexus or pre Goshn Infiniti. But I guess even thou I drive NO Honda, I am still a Honda lover.

Whatever. F-K it..... I'm done with this stupid thread. TL won the track event and every bandwagon person with a G35 is now pissed. I give credit when its due, all you people say is- impossible. G35 okaaaaaaaay.

In another thread, we saw a video of the TL-S outgunned by the IS350. Just sayin'.
