in fact heavier (usually stronger) wheels are better so they(the spokes) don't get ripped off by the torque and power of the engine, If I am not mistaken.
A current Z06 with a decent driver runs mid-11's....no way the Camaro will perform at nearly that level given the considerable amount of weight it will have over the Z06 with that engine...low-12's, sure. This will not be a light car by any means. The new Mustangs and the Challenger are not lightweight cars and this Camaro will follow suit. They may shoehorn the LS7 into a very limited production GMPP version...they need too as there is already such a variant of the GT's and the Challenger will surely get an SRT-8 version. V6, 5.3L V8, and 6.0 V8 are pretty much sure bets. I doubt they will uprate an LS7 as it already is considerably more powerful than the LS2...be the same 505hp/470lb-ft SAE rated engine if it gets one at all.
Yeah...the Z06 does, with TWO exceptional drivers and negative DA's...welcome to what the rest of the world already knows. Still talking about the Camaro, though, if you'd put those amazing reading comprehension skills to use...guy.

Wonder if it will be just as much a POS as the last one.
Why was the last one a POS? It did what it was supposed to very well. It was cheap, it went fast/looked good at the time, etc. It was never supposed to be a Lexus. They were also decently reliable because they were so simple and had proven engines in them.
It was only a matter of time before the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro hit the Nürburgring test track. GM has been using the German road course to fine-tune nearly all of its performance cars as of late, so the appearance of the Camaro alongside the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 didn't surprise our spy shooters.
Unlike some of the earlier Camaro prototypes we've seen, this particular test mule has a set of Brembo brakes and a more aggressive wheel-and-tire package. The obvious conclusion? This is a Camaro Super Sport model. But not so fast, because when you consider that previous Camaro test mules have featured very tame-look brakes, this upgrade could indicate nothing more than the Chevrolet Camaro Z28.
Then consider the sound of this Camaro test mule. It's all motor, yet it doesn't have the same sonic signature as GM's supercharged LSA V8 that speculation indicates will be the centerpiece of the top-of-the-line Camaro SS. With 525 horsepower, the supercharged engine would give the SS a big advantage over both the Dodge Challenger SRT8 and the Ford Shelby GT500. But this prototype sounds like it probably has a normally aspirated V8, most likely a detuned LS3 V8 with somewhere around 400 hp.
Judging from the looks of this Camaro at speed, the suspension is already well dialed in. Roll, dive and squat are all pretty minimal for a car that's expected to have a curb weight in the range of 3,600-3,800 pounds. With the start of production for the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro still a year away, the engineers at Chevrolet still have plenty of time to fine-tune this car, so these Nürburgring tests are just the beginning.

I think GM has a winner on it's hands. They went about the Camaro design the correct way in that they were able to blend the iconic style with the current day new edge look. Ford and Dodge have shot themselves in the foot by introducing carbon replicas of thier iconic Mustang and Challenger. Ford has already learned that reselling the old as new only works well for a little while and the same goes for VW and the Beetle. Dodge will soon learn a very hard lesson. You think they would have learned with the PT Cruiser.
It's funny to think that the new Camaro with the DI 300+hp V6 will be as fast as the old LT1 F-Body (14.0-14.4) and will get a lot better mpgs. There is now talk of the Eco I-4 turbo going in there too.
