I dont like pt cruisers, at all. But i "Raced" one from a light, and he kept up with me. I'm glad to say that i was ahead, since i always thought that car was pretty weak, but still, the fact that he was almost neck and neck kinda irritated me.
i started out further back than him, maybe about 2 feet. I couldnt really get any statistics from chryslers website but apparently they are all super charged(or turbo charged, i forget) with little 4-bangers?
can anyone tell me the comparison between my 95 ( no performance mods) and that pt cruiser, i'm assuming to be stock. Looked like some guy was just having fun with his family "suv", when he floored it.
The reason I said this is b/c I rented a new (3000 miles on odometer) 2005 non-turbo cruiser for work last week to drive 100 miles and back. It had absolutely no power compared to my maxima (stock except rims/lowered). I floored it a number of times from 60 - 100 miles/hour and after the first few times it was like why bother b/c it took so long. There is no way it would keep up with my Maxima from a light or from anywhere for that matter headstart or not.
It was actually extremely boring to drive. I enjoyed it for my purpose of cruising predominately on the highway, no surprises, and smooth ride. Still don't like them very much and would not get one ever unless I was an old dude that liked to 'cruise' distances in my cruiser (good name for it in retrospect).
Don't know how much quicker or fun a 5 speed turbo would be, but I don't think I'll be running out to test drive one anytime in the future.
Yeah, they are lame.
I feel like I shoulda had him more than that, my max seems to be sluggish. I want to replace my knock sensor but my mechanic thinks cleaning the harness prevented the ecu light from reappearing so it was fine.
I also feel like I lost low end power after my hacked airbox mod.

You did, i took off the bottom today and it was slow as fawk on the bottom end. I recomend putting it back and drilling a hole or two in the resonator. This is the setup that works best for me.
A guy at work has a new PT turbo 5-speed. He's an older guy, but likes to drive. It's somewhat quick. Can't quite keep up with the max, but no slouch. I think they are 210 hp? Not sure, but in that range.
the non-turbo pt cruisers are slow as sh!t, i raced one with a full car, and the driver was by himself, and i smoked the living crap out of him...the turbos are a great deal faster tho, but nothing my maxima couldnt handle.

The PT GT (turbo) is a quick little car, but its aerodynamics are what kills it. the engine is the same as the SRT with a smaller turbo and different ECU.
