A Portland area meet will be held Sunday April 19th at McMenamins Edgefield near Troutdale, OR. We haven't had many meets in Oregon, so let's make sure we get a good turn out and from the looks of it, we could see around 15 people.
Details:
What: Biggest Oregon NWMaxima meet ever and short/casual cruise to Multnomah Falls on the Historic Columbia River Highway
Who: All Maxima (and other) enthusiasts
When: Sunday, April 19th
Time: 12 noon
Where: McMenamins Edgefield, Troutdale, Oregon
2126 S.W. Halsey St.
Troutdale, OR 97060
What to bring: Money for lunch (possibly dinner), maybe a chair to sit in while shooting the breeze, stuff to play with while we are there (frisbee, etc.)
Let's plan to park on the grass lot, east of NE 24th Ave., right off Hasley Street, (you may want to drive through the main road and around to the grass lot to avoid the driveway off Hasley St.) If there is a lot of room in the main lot, we can move cars after we all arrive.
I'm keeping track of who is coming on NWMaxima.com, so post in here if you're not on that site. Or better, you could join that site.
Hope you all can make it.
David

I will be in town as well. I don't know if your up to date on all the things that happened during the last time I logged on Nwm. I rented a truck with a dolly, towed my car all the way to Washington(250 miles) away. Zack and his buddy Paul did the swap, looked pretty flawlessly but what do I know. Then the car's fuel pump wouldn't turn over. Then connected it directly. Still no turn-over. Then saw an electrical issue as the cars guage would stay lit without the key in it for a few seconds. We switched all relays, tried doing what we could, but still nothing worked. Our time on the property the car was being worked was over, and the guy wanted the car gone regardless of if it was done. I wanted to pay him, but he just wanted his garage back. Long story short, I had to go rent another U-haul w/ dolly, barely got the car onto it becuase it wasn't running. Towed it all the way back to Portland. Was totally exhausted. The next morning I took the car to a Nissan Dealership, they tried connecting thier programmer, to reprogram the immobolizer. It didn't even turn on. So the guy used his own method to turn on the Consult2. I left the car there for 2-3 hours. They tried diagnosing it with all thier Nissan tools. Even the floor mechanic came out to give it a try, no luck. So I left the dealership upset not knowing what to do and parked the truck w/car a block away from my home. I was researching all weekend to find a local mechanic to try to diagnose and fix the issues. Found the highest rated Nissan specialist in Portland. I told him and said take as long as you need but please help me fix the problem. After a week I got a call back from him. He said, "I'm very sorry Allen, but I am not willing to try fixing this regardless of what amount of money you pay me. The car has dangling wires everywere. Theres serious electrical issues. This motor has a bunch of harnesses that aren't connected." The thing is, the vehicle didn't have any electrical issues before, and it ran, not very well because the motor was bad, but at least it ran. Now I have to yet again, call a tow truck to pick up the car from the Nissan shop, bring it home and just leave it parked before I can make a decision on what to do with the car. I am carless, clueless, and hopeless. =/
Well, I have worked with him before and IMO, he is honest and knows his sht about Nissans. He probably could fix it, but it just wouldn't be worth his time and the headache.
All can't be totally hopeless. I have seen guys find a car out in a field after 30 years and bring it back to life.
The head guy at Specialty Nissan is awesome. I forgot why, but I stopped by one day when I first got my Maxima with a question about something and he stopped what he was doing to give me some advice knowing that I wasn't going to be a customer. Seemed happy to do it as well.
I would replace all of your wiring harness'. A lot of work, but not too complicated.
Ah, The Russian was in Washington and I didn't see! Haha, April 19 is a Sunday according to my calendar. I wish the meet was local, my mom definitely wouldn't let me go down to Oregon by myself hahaha

You wouldn't be by yourself, you can meet up in Tacoma and caravan down..although, we may be considered strangers by your mother (and maybe you).
Too bad you can't come.

The automatic maxima or the porsche.....im leaving to san francisco accually in a couple hours, and i might pick up a 6spd v6 accord there.......but dont know till i check it out
One thing my wife brought up is that this is going to be the first nice weekend basically of the entire year.
It might be insanely busy everywhere -- both at Edgefield, the parks all around the area and especially the scenic highway and Multnomah Falls.
Had it been 60 and a little rainy, the number of people out would be less than half of what it will likely be this weekend. I just wanted to throw out a fair warning, so I don't get blamed for all of the people in our way.

Even if it's pretty busy, I think the grass lot may have some parking. Isn't that more of an overflow lot? Either way, it'll be an experience.

Hey,
does anyone know where I could look into swapping my manual transmission for a 5 speed? I have a 99 maxima. the plan is a tranny swap, supercharger, audio, and a lil body work. But I want to know if i can make it manual for less than a million dollars before I start buying stuff. Let me know guys. Thanks you

No one knows...or they're not going to tell you because you posted in the wrong place. I know you're new, but come on.

Yeah, the grass lot is an overflow lot. It is very, very big. There are regular parking lots all over that facility, so we should still have a lot of parking.
I was just hoping that we could have more space to roam the facility/eat together, that kind of thing.
It will likely be busy throughout the Gorge -- parks, parking, the scenic highway, etc.
Things would be the same probably everywhere sunny in the entire Northwest. So, even if we had a meet at some place like Golden Gardens, there would probably be lots of tourists and locals out enjoying the sun.
okay, well i was just asking here because we all live in the northwest. sorry dude. just thought that there is a reason for having a regional forum, to help eachother out. but sorry.

This is the correct section, but just don't post in the thread about a upcoming event. That's all I was saying.
