3rd Gen headlight conversion help?

Hey there folks. I've been considering doing the flush mounted BMW E36 headlight conversion and I was wondering if anyone in the NW has done it? If so, is there anyone that can help me actually do the conversion? I'd greatly appreciate the help. Thanks!

well, there's a writeup somewhere in the third gen section. you need to hack away at some metal to fit them in. shouldn't be too hard. i'd help you if i knew i wouldn't screw something up. i've never done them.

to get them flush, you will probally need to cut away the edges of the grill and hammer part of the radiator support out of the way,

The only way to get them actually flush is to use the Wade covers or fab in the light to the new clear headlights they have like Michael and Danny have talked about.

I think MrGone helped Aron (aw89maxse or blackedoutmax on NWMax) install some on his 3rd gen when he had it. He might be able to give you some additional pointers.

I'm much appreciate any help or advice. Although, right now I'm savin up some money for new springs and KYB GR-2s. Are Sprint springs any good? I spoke with Tony over at Speed Concepts and he can get me a set of Sprints for $150.

Yea, I remember that. Nice to hear from ya. You might know me as Q45guy off of the importmix site. The Q went bye-bye and I got this '90 Maxima SE off of a guy on craigslist for a damned good price. Anyways, I really do want to get the e36 conversion as the stock light output is just sad. I even installed PIAA Xtreme White Plus 9004 bulbs and they do little to help light coverage out. I've got some Nokya Hyper yellow H3s for the stock fogs.

Old post, but did you ever do your conversion? If you need any pointers/help, LMK. I had it done (wade covers and all) on my other 3rd gen when I lived in ND. I'll probably go ahead and do them again on the Max I have now, as soon as I finish up on my stereo.

Just some points, based on your posts:

1) Sprint springs are a ROUGH ride, if where you live doesn't have good paved roads. This is from personal experience.
2) I wouldn't give Nokya bulbs to my worst enemy!!

Well I've been putting off the e36 conversion as I have reading more and more into retrofitting Acura TL Bi-Xenon HID projectors and a nice OEM HID system. While it will cost more, the results will speak for themselves. I'm also still looking for a decent spring set.
I got the Nokya bulbs were only $12, so I figured what the hell.
