Sanctioned Racing on the streets of Reading PA (SCCA)

BMR (Blue Mt. Region) will be holding the Duryea Hillclimb in Reading PA, August 16, 17. The hillclimb is a Level 4 Time Trial open to all TT liscensed competitors as well as any SCCA competition license. Novice permits are available at registration as late as Friday, August 15. Car requirements include all club racing classes, both national and regional, plus Solo II classes of Street Prepared and Street Mod if the car is prepared to Level 3-4 TT specifications. Please note that all Street Prepared, Forced Induction cars are automatically bumped to Street Mod regardless of originality or prep level. Also classes for Specials, Rally, Vintage and Historic. Exhibition runs for non roll bar Historics are no longer allowed. There may be a rental race car available depending on demand. Early arrangements are recommended.

As with every SCCA event, they need workers. F&C credentials are not required of corner workers and volunteers. Lunches and Saturday night party provided.

Spectators are welcome and free of charge.

If you have ever driven up to the "Pagoda" you appreciate the speed these guys drive. I know I have had my own "unsactioned" runs and it is a blast.

Not a Maxima but this is what you missed if you didn't come to Duryea. '04 Mach 1 #341 121mph at the finish. Beat the ESP class record 5 times and was on my way to a 6th record crushing run when I wrecked it in Turn 8. Car was fixed in 1 week and was on the track at Jefferson. The 2nd video above, was shot by my wife. THAT was the run I wrecked 6 turns later.

This road is scary. The 1st high speed run you see between 5 and 6(Oh **** - as it's commonly called), the car is doing approx 105+. I didn't realize til I watched this video how lucky I actually was going thru there all but sideways.

I have been going for years. I like watching the variety of cars, but when a big American V8 comes rumbling by its the best.
