Running E85 with spray?

Has anyone ever tried running e85 with or without spray? My question is because of the octane of e85 and its price compared to "race gas" there is a station somewhat locally and i was thinking about trying it. I was going to try and put like 5 gallons in first..any downside on running e85 for engine or electronics?

You will need to be tuned to run the e85, otherwise it would lean out, it has less btu's than gasoline. I think it takes 1.5x the amount of e85 to equal regular gas.

You could call NX and ask for recommended jetting. Remember to remove all gasoline from the tank before filling with E85 - otherwise your nitrous/fuel ratio will be way off.

ok what about just running e85 with no spray....any advantages or would it burn it up? i am tuning myself so i would be able to tell if its running lean via wideband but idk if its too high of an octane level

It won't be too high octane - E85 is about 108 octane, according to guys I know that use it in turboed cars. High octane won't hurt motors by itself.

You would have to run a much richer load than straight gas - start with 50% more injector time. Alcohol actually runs much cooler than gas - but won't start in cold weather. That's one reason for the 85% alcohol instead of 100%.

Brazil is real big on alcohol fuels - they use 100% for driving but have a small separate gas tank that the computer uses to start the car then switches to alcohol when warm enough. Discovery-channel knowledge, you see.

damn ahah well i can't control my injector time right now because i'm not running the greddy emu....good to know though cause its prolly not a good idea to run it in 35 degree and below weather.

Seemingliy if you add a little more gas to the mixture you shouldn't have any problems, geographical location matters also, one guy said it the car started in 5 below temps. Yes you will need double the injector capacity you have now, but e85 seems to be good fuel for boosted cars.

I had a RX8 running the zex 82021 system. "That is a wet system"
In my experiences Nitrous and ethanol don't mix. Even at a small 5 or 10 percent blend my car suffered massive intake backfires. Save your self some money in repairs and just get a 92 or 93 octane gas besides e85 might be cheaper and yes ethanol does raise the octane level, but it will have worse mileage and possible intake backfires or worse.
Just my 2 cents, and if the gas station is running a ethanol blend as long as its under 10 percent they don't legally have to post it on the pumps.
