well i almost blew it up

hey guys i went through and put my nitrous back in my car over the weekend and got it running saturday night. i have a NX wet kit that i have jetted for a 100 shot. i went through and put in 2 step colder copper plugs, had them gapped down to .035 and turned the fuel pressure up 2 pounds to 45 psi all full throttle. well i went to race a srt4 pushing 20 psi and we went from from a 40 roll. he honked it off and i hit it and jumped out bout two cars, then went to third and the car started to bog and run like it wasn't on 6 holes so i let off and pushed in the clutch and when i did the car died. so i pulled over did a visual check of everthing that i could and didnt see anything wrong. so after a minute of trying the car refired and ran fine. i went to my shop yesterday to take the plugs out and check them. well i had a lot of detonation. the center plugs on both banks part of the ground strap was gone. i'm a little nervous about spraying that much again. it just seemed weird that i was able to spray a 75 shot with no problem. i'm going to get a few more things checked out on my car and probably change my fuel pump. i have a walbro 255 in there but it's been in there for bout 4 years, and my mom has run it dry twice. so i'm wondering if it has enough to supply the pressure just not the volume. any input would be great. thanks.

possible, that is one of the things i'm going to go through and redo is all the wiring. it was just really scary there for about 10 minutes when the car wouldn't refire.

I would suggest getting this it's much better than a fpss, also a incabin or out of the hood fuel psi gauge. this is handy cause your pump could be dying and not able to handle the load under spray but if you do not have this gauge you will never see it less your on the dyno

At a 100-shot, that sounds like preignition to me. I have a good collection of cold plugs with vaporized ground straps,

The cure for me was cutting back the ground straps, gapping again at .035, and using a good race gas to spray with. Sunoco 104 ( blue) works well for up to a 150-shot, although either the plug gap needs closed down more or you wire in a voltage booster for the coils. Then I could run a .035 gap at 150-shot time after time - on a stock ECU.

I took it for granted his ground straps were cut. I am running a 100shot right now and never had a problem.

I have 2 steps colder side gapped plugs set to .035 with a walbro 255 and fjo nitrous controller

You should always prime your gas line when you change your fuel jets and when you have'nt run your nitrous in a while, sometimes air can get into the gas line and cause a gas spike making you run lean.

If you wanted to go the cheaper route, you could opt for a water/methanol injection kit. You could hook it up to the rpm switch you were going to use to engage your nitrous.
