NX system on a pretty unmodded engine

I usually run 87 octane (never knocked) but looking into Nitrous alot lately and I'm probably leaning towards NX: http://www.nitrousexpress.com/Pages/ImportStage1.htm

I've read a lot of the Nitrous FAQ but I was just wondering could I put the kit on jet it for 75 hp wet and do nothing else to make it not ping i.e. 93 octane gas which i probably will be doing anyway when i get another job or sparkplug change. I read about the copper spark plugs with the shorter gap just wondering if it would be necessary.

and would that make my car stock(i dont consider the intake a upgrade lol) auto 97 should be same weight as car came stock or a little more a high 13 second car? thats my goal for some reason. I believe thirteens is where its at lol.

the nx kit is fine, run 93 or higher only when spraying, get atleast 1 step colder plugs with a reduced gap .037 is a good starting point, and no I do not think a bone stock 97 auto max with a 75 shot of juice will run 13's

you will need alteast a y-pipe and cutout (or just disconnect your exhuast from the y-pipe at the back at the track), some weight reduction and drop mod

i was going to do a y pipe, and with the drop mod is there truly a time proven difference?
so will my engine knock if I don't use 93 octane and one step colder plugs?

The drop mod will save your auto tranny. Don't cheap out on the gas, if you can't afford premium, don't use Nitrous. There is a good saying, 'You have to pay to play'. If you cannot afford to replace an engine, or a transmission, at any given moment, and your car is your only means of transportation, DO NOT use nitrous, or any other major power adder.

Using regular gas and stock plugs, you are GREATLY increasing your chances of detonation, and when running nitrous, just a second or two of detonation = bye bye motor.

What kind of difference was he looking for? If he didnt feel the difference in the car shifting gears then he did it wrong. Alot of people do this mod because it reduces heat between shifts when racing thus extending the life of the tranny.

Yes they both do help. Thats one reason Jime, streetz and grey99 can beat up on theirs so much with no problems.

Yeah I've seen him at a few meets. I'm pretty sure theres no real evidence of it helping your times and if it does it would be very very minimal. I've tryed it with it on and off during back to back runs and my times didnt change.

There's really two different mods for the automatic that make a serious difference.

1. Drop-resistor mod.

2. Shift_Fast mod.

The drop mod by itself raises the internal pressure of the automatic tranny. There is less slippage during shifts, but - the transmission computer still controls the shifts, even if you move the shift lever yourself.

The Shift_Fast mod is really a simple circuit to directly control the two shift solenoids in the transmission. This bypasses all the things the transmission computer does to modulate shifts so Grandma doesn't notice. The shifts are then very hard and very positive. When spraying a 3.0, my M&H slicks would scream going into third gear.

These two together are amazing - I launched at 2800 (Edge TC) and went into spray immediately, the MSD made the Shift_Fast shift at 6500 into 2nd, then again into third gear - making the M&H slicks complain all the way. The installed 3.0 was one of three bone-stock 3.0s I used up while playing with stock ECUs and 150-shot of nitrous through two stages...

Now that I have a cammed-up 3.5 installed, I'll use the same tranny and Shift_Fast controller for the 2008 season. Should be fun.

.
