Thanks to Matt93se for blessing this post.

Hi everyone. I've been here awhile, used to own a 3rd gen, now have a 4th gen. A friend and I started our own Texas based firearms enthusiast forum about 1 year ago, and it's grown quite a bit in that time frame. I know there are quite a few Texans here (and anyone else is more than welcome to join and check us out), so I thought I would post about it. Here's a link to the forum:

In addition, I just wanted to let people know about our forum's 1 year anniversary shooting range event that is coming on April 5th in just a couple weeks at one of our forum sponsor's shooting range in Houston. Here's the thread for more details on the event (it is going to be BIG with tons of cool stuff):

To give you a quick rundown, the event is April 5th and starts at 10am. There is going to be a TON of cool stuff there. First off, Sig Sauer is actually sending some of their people out to the event. They will have some of their new guns on hand for people to try out. Sig will also be running a 3 hour concealed carry tactics course during the event, which is $300 to register though there were only going to be 30 spots and I'm not sure how many are left (contact me for further details and I'll find out what the status is on registration for that course).
Also, Nighthawk Customs is going to be at the event as well! Yes, that is the same Nighthawk Customs as in the hand built 1911 manufacturer producing $3-5k+ absolute top of the line 1911's!

They are supposed to have some of their products there for people to check out as well.
In addition, Hoffner's Holsters will be out there as well as Dale Hunnicut of Gripreductions.com, each with products to show off. Dale along with Gary Burris will be running sort of an entry level IDPA-style competition shooting course during the event as well. If you aren't familiar with IDPA, it is a competition shooting organization that is geared more towards replicating more realistic environments/courses in a shooting competition as opposed to being purely competition based like IPSC (another competition shooting organization). The nice thing about this entry level course they will be putting on is it should be very simplistic for those that haven't tried anything like it before. It also has you learning to shoot on the move, shoot from behind cover, etc which is much more conducive to real life situations and is certainly good experience to gain if you have firearms for self defense as incorporating even just a little movement while shooting has a significant impact on accuracy and many other factors.
Yes, there is more.

There is a 1st Cav Benefit Drive for Deployed Soldiers. There will be donations taken to send care packages to the soldiers of the 1st Cav. In addition there will be many cool door prizes given out as well as some raffle items. There should also be plenty of BBQ as well too. There are a ton of other details, specifics on the type of door prizes and raffle items, etc that I can't remember at the moment, so I'd recommend checking the thread link above to find out all the details.
Lastly, if there are any of you out there that are not into firearms or don't like them, or just don't have any experience with them and feel pretty overwhelmed just thinking about them, I'd like to invite you all too!

Almost all of the people that show up to our events are great people and love helping out, love letting other people try out their guns, etc etc. Many of us, including myself, would be glad to help any of you out, teach you basic firearms safety, teach you how to shoot, help answer any questions you have, etc. Even if you are not sure about the whole firearms thing, or are overwhelmed, I would encourage you to still attend as at the least you'll get some BBQ out of it, and you may even win some cool door prizes or a raffle item.

I look forward to seeing some of you there.
