Just bought a 97 SE with 120k miles. Black with black leather in great condition. Can't even drive until monday(insurance), and I'm still in the process of learning MT(learned on youtube). Will try to get pics soon.

Welcome to the site and happy modding.
I originally thought I got a good deal, but after reading what other people have bought theres for I feel a little dissapointed. I paid $4800. Does that sound right?

And if someone wants to help me mod it I'd gladly appreciate it. Don't know much about cars and am intersted in learning.

My goals are basically for it to last for at least 3 years with out any major work. I wouldn't mind a little more power, but don't want to decrease the life of the car. Don't know how much I can do to the exterior of the car, I like the stock wheels. Only thing I'm planning on as of right now is window tint, which should be taken care of next week. I can't wait til Monday when my insurance starts. Its been sitting in my garage all week getting dusty.

My original budget was around $5500-6000 for a car, so I'm willing to put a few hundred into it right now if somebody has a recommendation.

Yeah, I have no Idea where to start. I know the exhaust isn't stock, the seller said he bought/installed something he bought on ebay.

If I lowered the car, would it be worse driving in snow? And I don't know what % of tint to go with, I'll have to check around and see how dark to go. Hopefully 35% will be good enough.

And what are some good tires? I want some that are quiet and to last 40k miles.

Well we need to know what he said...was it a catback or Y or headers?

I have K sport coilovers with a 2in drop and I get around fine in the snow...these cars are real good in the snow...20% in the rear and 35% on the front is what is legal in Nebraska for tint. I have 20% all around.

Im not a tire expert but if you just want decent tires with no real performance value potenzas are fine...How are the tires that are on there?

Don't even remember what he said. All I remember is that he bought it on ebay for $2xx.00, and it bolted on. I just started shopping for a digital camera, so hopefully I'll be able to take pics of it soon.

Right now I have Toyo Proxes ZX4, they seemed kind of loud. The back still have a lot of tread, but the front are past half way. Don't know if I'll just replace the front two or all 4.

I really like the Bose sound system, but I want a cd player with mp3. Don't know how much that would cost + install.

welcome ryan. how far north of westroads are you. i too am in the area (5 blocks north of blondo by edison elementary). for you tires i would check the pressure that can be a cause of extra road noise (35psi is average). if you install a cd player yourself you'll save alot. for myself i'm doing my whole system myself (double din, amps, components, sub(s), wirring).. oh and learning 5mt isn't that hard, i've tought afew ppl even myself. feel free to ask questions, we're glad to help.

My guess is that it is a Y pipe...so you already have the best performance mod...

Personally I would just rotate them....The back to the front and the fronts to the rear....The toyos are pretty good tires...

Adding an aftermarket headunit to the Bose system is actually quite hard...Has to do with how the speakers and other components are wired up....but it is doable...Most HUs are going to run at around the 200 - 300 range.

I live on 103rd & Grant, 6 blocks directly West of the school. No way I could do it myself. I had friends who did their own and all of their stuff got screwed up. And I'm not too worried about learning to drive it. I took it around the block earlier this week and didn't have too many problems. I did a little more searching on the internet to find the answers to some of my problems. Hopefully I will be able to get it down tomorrow night after I get off work, I really wanna be able to drive it 10 miles to school on tuesday.

BTW, I forgot to check the rules. What are the rules on using "bad" language?

I just washed it(poorly) and noticed something I didn't see when I bought it. It looks like the car was egged and the paint is faded/cracked in about 3 spots on the driver's side and hood. I can't believe I missed that before. Is there anything I can do to fix it other than get it professionally done?

And I took it out for another quick drive, I did a couple laps at 2 dead end streets behind my house. Everything is good except when I'm going about 20 in second it seems to jerk just a little bit occasionally.

You might try some scratch x or something, but be carefull with taking off too much clear coat. The best you can do is try to get the clear coat as even as you can across the car. A good wax (I would suggest tech wax 2.0) can also help cover up flaws some. As for the cracking, there isn't too much you can do unfortunatly other than reach deep in your pocket and pay out your *** for a paint job.

Pulve, what the **** are you talking about they don't like noobs here? Its not like they flame every ****ing noob in here just to make themselves feel better or anything

And hey anybody in here if you need something from auto zone I get 20 percent off and I wouldn't mind picking something up for you if you need it. Just let me know.

im not sure if everyone heard, by my max got boosted saturday at about 530ish, if i remember correctly. was at a friends house, inside for about half hour to 45 minutes, walk out... car gone, glass all over the drive.

after about two hours waiting for the police, they took my info and said that they would put it in the system and put out an APB or what ever. there is only one car like mine in omaha, which i saw today and made my heart start racing like a mofo. if anyone see's my baby please call me asap!!! 402.871.8474

01 White SE Anniversary Edition
there is a big black scratch on the back bumper, its on the back of the bumper, on the driver's side. i have the org stickers on the back side windows. there is also a Liquid Courage bumper sticker on the back window, driver's side.

the neb plates are the newest pic. the iowa plates are old. but you can see the scratch on the back bumper.

here two pics...

thanks everyone!!!

103rd thats walking distance, i'm @ about 94th and ohio. mine tends to jerk a little also. i think it helps to let the car warm up.

matt- i'm going to keep my eye out. i've seen you/ your car on the interstate b4 so i'll recognise it for sure.

maybe a monthly meet...I couldn't do weekly with work at least for awhile. Brad's (manager) dad died on monday so scheduling is crazy around there. Plus I can't clean my car every week, thats crazy talk!

i dont think weekly would work either. bi-monthly wouldn't be so bad. oh that INK meet was at a wedding for my buddy's sister. i heard it was pretty eventful, a cat fell out of the sky on fire?

4th gen was nasty man. 5th gen isn't amazing or anything, but they tend to handle themselves a little better.

Very true, but its not like you have to flame every person who posts before searching...you could just let the thread die and not say anything. Just sayin lol. So Pulve did you get your turbo on yet?
