HOUSTON check in

Lately i've been seeing alot of new guys from houston in the forums. I think we should all get to know each other, get to know what part of Houston everyone is from and help each other with their problems, and if someone needs help to work on their car, we could all chip in. The guys in Austin and everywhere else does it, why can't we.

Well loverholic, I live in Baytown and I drive a Pearl White '96 GLE. The White Shadow is my daily driver that I cannot forsee getting rid of anytime in the near future. She has a PR CAI, Tokico Illuminas and H&R springs, FSTB, Budget Y, OEM fogs, red/clear tails, crystal clear headlights with 9007 conversion, Big 3, clear bumper and corner lenses, Metal Maxima's LED dome and map lights, SE gauge cluster, Grille Tech upper and lower inserts, '03 350Z 17" 7 spoke wheels. She runs like a champ and with the recent suspension mods, she handles very capably.

A lot more mods (audio, suspension, exhaust) coming in the very near future, but I always thought guys who listed all of the mods that they are "going to do in the future" were kind of lame so I'll update them as they happen.

I agree that as large a city as Houston is we could and should have a more close knit Maxima community here. We can help each other out by exchanging info on shops that do good work on our cars, shops to avoid, and just having more meets to get to know our Maxima brethren.

As I mentioned in another post Gonzalez Muffler Shop in Baytown installed my Y for $50 and says he will do dirt cheap exhaust fab work. He seemed pretty capable and had no problem with me getting under the lift to watch him while he did the job every step of the way.

I've had to miss the last couple of Houston meets due to work schedule but I'm always game to show up if my schedule allows. I'm a decent shade tree mechanic on basic stuff and I'll help out a fellow .Orger if I'm able.

Next?

where were the last few houston meets held?

modding on my max wont start till january of 07 but i still wanna know max owners in my area so when i do start, i will go with the best options, especially suspension, how stiff does your max ride with that setup......

Somewhere on Westheimer; I don't remember the name of the place because I didn't go. Check regional threads for info on past meets. Chillin is a fellow Houstonian and he went. Maybe he can chime in...

Suspension is way stiffer than stock GLE. Holds curves like a dream, no body roll, no braking nosedive. The tradeoff is that it is somewhat harsh over large bumps or holes. A huge pothole hits pretty hard, but not so much so that I would ever change back to something softer. I have the fronts set at 2 and the rear at 3. I will get used to the ride that way so that I can judge the difference in feel when I play around with settings.

the place on westhiemer was probly the TC meet on wednesday nights, (westhiemer and wilcrest location).

i'm probly going to need some help in the near future w/ my car. my only mods are some 17x8 ASA AR1 rims, and a little audio. if there's anyone out there who can change the engine mounts, lmk because mine are broken apparently.

We already have enough responding to this thread to have a decent meet. I know it's been done before with less than stellar attendance but we sould keep doing it until we get it right. I haven't been able to make it previously and depending on when we set it for, I might not again. But I try like hell every time, my job and family responsibilities sometimes prevent me (upper management salary position ain't all it's cracked up to be). Let's all agree on a time and place and do it.

Eyemfaster, if you have specific parts you need PM me and I will check it out next time I go to the salvage yards around here. I know a couple that have some 4th gens.

Who else is H-town Maxima proud?

well, my car is pretty messed up, so i can use pretty much any parts you guys can find. just lmk where a decent 4th gen is, and i'll check it out. unfortunatly, i'm only free this saturday (9/02) because i'm working/ going to school til thursday. i might be able to make an exception if you find a black 97-99 though.

I've got a 95 maroon trunk for sale... spoiler is for sale on ebay though I don't think anyone is gonna bid on it.
Is anyone interested in the trunk? I need money for a 97 trunk.
I've also got the driver side tail assembly inner and outter.
I have a bunch of random interior parts that I've replaced with black. Like lower b-pillar, door gasket, rear seatbelts, center console.
Anyone need this stuff?

there will be a planet zero meet tonight, usually its a pretty kick *** meet but the parking lot is SMALL so you get there around like 8 you might get up front, otherwise its out back or across the street.
http://www.houston-imports.com/forum...d.php?t=325914

haha, man...all i got is 95 parts.
i cant believe how hard trunks are to find. and i cant believe they cost so much. best deal i've found was 125 but it just feels like alot. Especially after someone local said they'd sell me one for 50 and then sold it to someone else

also, would anyone happen to know a good machine shop? i need 00vi plates and thats another thing i dont feel like spending 125 dollars on.

This is a long story but GOOD!!
I got my 97 trunk from a local junkyard here in El Paso... I actually got a sweet deal using some mind tricks. I had called them the day before and had spoken to the owner. I was looking for the trunk lid and the inner taillights. The owner tells me he has a few 4th gens there that I would have to go and check them out... He quoted me 150.00 for the trunk and 50.00 for the taillights. When I showed up to the junkyard, the owner wasnt in. Some guy has this helper escort me to the back where all the nissan cars are at, but I didnt see anything I liked...
so we're walking back and I spot this chopped up 4th gen in towards the front and it has a clean trunk lid, with the lights and a spoiler!! So I tell the helper "thats the one Shamie(the owner) told me about. So I tell the helper I'm taking the whole trunk lid with lights and spoiler; he takes it off and hands it to me...

As I approach the counter, the guy looks at the trunk and totals it up. The guy tells me it'll be 350.00-- I acted suprised and I told him that I had spoken to Shamie the day before and he told me 150.00 for eveything--and he kind of gets bothered and goes on saying that the spoiler alone is 150.00-- He tells me "let me call Shamie and see what he says"... Shamie answers and the guy at the counter starts talking to him in another language..i think they're brothers... by the tone of his voice, I feel like its going my way... as he hangs up, I ask him "What did he say?" And he looks irritated and says "Shamie said that if thats what he told you, thats what it is!"

I paid the guy, grabbed the lid, and power-walked my a*$ outta there!! DIDNT look back!!

I was like as I'm driving out!!
