So this is like your 1-year anniversary?

Headers look really slick. But I wonder if you'll notice much of a difference removing the RSB. Planning on getting some real brakes any time soon?

I actually just installed the RSB about a week ago. I've had them on all my Maxima's and have been happy with them.

A BBK is on my list of things to do at some point. Unfortunately, the car required a bunch of maintenance work after I bought it, so a lot of the money I had earmarked for upgrades went to basic crap instead.

Thanks everyone. Ha ha, no, I am NOT rich, and I didn't win the lottery. Most of the money for mods on this car came from selling off my RX-7 project car, and a lot of spare parts I had laying around. Believe it or not, I did have a budget to work with. Due to a lot of little problems the seller did not tell me about, a lot of the money I had for mods went towards basic maintenance items. The coilovers came on the car, along with the body kit and tint, so I didn't have to pay for any of those items.

This car was built as a daily driver and is an accumulation of everything I have always wanted in a Maxima.

My first car was a 1990 Acura Integra that I purchased used from a Nissan dealership. While I was in the dealership, I fell in love with the 4th gen Maxima, but unfortunately could not afford one at the time, as a brand new Lance Corporal in the Marine Corps.

3 years later, I was finally in a position to get a new car, and I picked up my first Maxima, a Maroon 96 5spd in 1999. I began researching, started reading the first Maxima forum, and took several visits to Stillen, as I was stationed close to them. After I returned from my second deployment in 2000, I was ready to purchase a S/C system from them, when someone made a illegal U-turn in front of me, totalling the car.

My next purchase was a 97 auto. I looked and looked for a 5spd, but I needed a new car quickly, and I could not find one I liked locally. After a month or two, I purchased a Warpspeed Y-pipe and a CAI, and the mod bug started. I started going to the track, and then started playing with nitrous. Did suspensions, brakes, got into stereo stuff a little bit. Best run was a 13.9 in the 1/4 with the tires spinning almost the whole way. After a time though, I got sick of the auto, and started looking into a 5spd swap. I think I was number 10 or 11 to do so. Sold off the nitrous to finance it. I got in on the tail end of the MEVI craze, when Iansw did a group buy on them. Unfortunately, I met bad luck with another bad driver, making a turn against traffic and the front of my car. Another one bites the dust.

After this, I picked up a 96 5spd, but I never really liked the car. It had a doo doo brown interior, and after the last car was totalled, I couldn't afford to do much to it. RSB, fidanza and a Exedy clutch were as far as I got. Sold the car.

I moved away from the .Org for a while after this, and picked up a 95 240sx auto. Did a 5spd swap, coilovers, stereo, exhaust, etc. Finally I turbo'd the KA motor with a T25 @ 10psi. I had fun with the car, but it was my daily driver, so I couldn't beat on it too much, or take it to the track. The coilovers were really harsh, and I drive the streets to work every day, without much of a chance to get on it and have some fun. With thoughts of family on my mind, I decided to part ways with the 240.

My next purchase was back to the Maxima with a maroon 2k auto with really low miles. I enjoyed the comfort of the Maxima again, and came back to the .Org. My wife and I had agreed that this one would not get any mods, but I did manage to sneak a Y-pipe and RSB in there without too much notice. The mod bug was always there though, and I really missed driving a 5spd...

Finally to the spring of last year. My wife had a 98 Integra, and she wanted a larger car. We searched around and really couldn't find anything we liked in our price range. She knew how bad I had always wanted a S/C maxima, and finally proposed that I get another 4th gen, and she take my 5th gen. It took about 2 seconds for me to make up my mind, and then the search began. After a couple months of looking, all the local cars were junk. I finally came across this car while looking on the .Org, and the owner had all the right answers. The rest is history (or infamy, depending on how you look at it).

I had a 88 RX-7 I had picked up as a project car for dirt cheap, with the plans of putting an LS-1 in the car. Once the opportunity came up to do a 4th gen the right way, I quickly sold the car and all of the parts I had purchased up to that point off.

This will be my last project car for quite some time to come...

Tires have been fine for me so far. I have used them on 3 cars and been happy. We get sunshine one day, pouring rain the next, so I need all season tires. They have gotten me home in a few inches of snow as well, and I have to go up a pretty steep hill.

Thanks. I'm not sure on the height. I put it to Teins recommended drop, but I was getting severe clicking from the passenger side axle (brand new) so I had to raise it up some. I just experimented until I got the noise to stop, but I never checked to see how much it was dropped still.

We could work up a budget minded bbk easy. I have a set of brackets here. That with some Q/J calipers would do the job for now.

I'll give you a call as soon as I'm ready Jeff. I'm honestly not hurting for braking power right now. I have brand new rotors, pads, calipers, and lines, and the car stops as hard as I need it to. I drive at freeway speeds maybe once a week, and so far fade has never been an issue. I think BBK's are more for a bling factor on a daily driver, not that I won't be getting them anyway.

50, 75, then 100 for a short time on a Holley NOS dry kit. Compression test was perfect when I was done, and the car dyno'd high as well.

You polish the SC yourself?
Also sounds like you have a good wife (lol at sneaking in a few mods on the 2k tho)
