The first number (225 or 245) is the width of the tire in mm. The second is the aspect ratio which is the height of the tire, but it represented as a percentage of the width. The third is wheel diameter. This is a percentage of width. So a 225/40/18 means its 225mm wide, and the height is 40 percent of 225mm, which in this case would be 90mm, and the 18 would obviously mean is for an 18" wheel.

You would need to find a larger profile tire if you want more sidewall height.

245/40/18 225/40/18 what does that difference represent in the 245-225. im not too familiar with what those numbers stand for when it comes to tire size. i wanted to get 18s but wanted thicker tires instead of profile to see if they would help fill the gap betwn the tire and fender. maximas have bad gaps there. thanks

    245/40/18 at least...or 245/45/18.
