can our throttle bodies be honed at all or are they to thin?

I think I might have told you wrong. 2k1-2k2 are the years for the 70mm, cable actuated throttle bodies, and possibly 2k3.

2000-2001 throttlebodies are what you want. They are 70mm and are cable actuated. Later years go to the e-throttle. The 4th gen TPS is identical to the 2000-01 Pathfinder TPS.

An adapter plate is $140 shipped. My paypal address is s.manifold@cem.utexas.edu I can have an adapter ready to ship in about 7 days after payment.
