I read an old post where you said that you would change 4th Gen Valve Cover gaskets for $200. Are you still doing this? I can drive up from Santa Cruz, go to Oakland every couple of weeks.

wow, i read alot of threads on the whinning noise in the maxima. I have a 2005 se that has had that noise off and on for the last 50k. It now has 84k and is becoming more prominent. ther is also a tick coming from that side sometimes. 6 out of 10 times i drive it. I am by no means a hard driver and it does have a lot of highway miles. I have noticed that it is not here all of the time so I am kind of leaning toward belts and or the tensioner. any advice or direction would be deeply appreciated. I am also not a bad mechanic myself so I could probably do the work if I could find a good manual? all the ones I have found a very vague. Once again any thoughts would be appreciated.

hey i was reading old posts and came across your posts. are you still a nissan tech? i have the p0011 code but i'd like to see if there are any TSBs open for my car, i just got it 2 weeks ago, second owner here with 61k miles. i appreciate your help.

It seems like you are pretty familiar with maximas, could you please help me with any info on this issue:
My 02 maxima has 200k (kilometers, not miles, I am in Canada) on it
I did not know about the oil issue until about 2 years ago (I got my car 3 years ago) so I might have ran on low oil sometimes before, even on high rpm.
Since about 6 months ago I found the rattling noise specially under load around 1800-2500 RPM. I can hear it above 2500 RPM sometimes only. About 1month ago SES light came on with P0011 code also, I reseted and has not appeard again yet.
I am very curious to know what could be the cause, i.e. is this a temporary low oil issue or a permanent engine problem? what part you think could be damaged?

hey man whats i was wondering that if you did want to start a maxima meet here in cali ....i was reading your thing about the car show in SF i might go check it out i dont think ill put my car in the show because it still needs some work but about the ....maxima meets that would be awesome
