New York City Official Caravan to Maxus 09
June 26, 2009

Distance from Best Buy Parking lot, Bklyn, NY: 238 miles

Estimated time of arrival WITH PIT STOPS and normal traffic conditions: Hopefully under 6 hours

WITHOUT pit stops from Best Buy it would take approx. 3 hours, 49 mins (according to MSN maps)

Considering Friday Morning Rush Hour here are the details:

Please, please show up with a FULL TANK of gas. I cannot stress this enough. We WILL not wait or stop for people to fill up as it breaks up the caravan. We can make one group stop for gas on the way as expected. You should have enough gas in your tank leaving Best Buy to drive at least 100 miles.

1st Stop:
Best Buy Parking lot
Belt Parkway, Exit 5

Arrival: 9:45am Departure: 10:15am SHARP!

Estimated Mileage to 2nd Stop: 40 miles
Estimated Travel time: 45min – 1hour

2nd Stop:
Molly Pitcher Service Area
NJ Turnpike South, between exits 8A and 8

Arrival: 11:15am Departure: 11:45am SHARP

Drivers coming from Bronx, Westchester, CT, Upstate NY, New Jersey, Yonkers, White Plains even as far as Boston, please meet us directly at our second rendezvous. Molly Pitcher Service Area between exits 8A & 8 on the NJ Turnpike South.

It would not make any sense you traveling into Brooklyn when some of you are closer to the George Washington Bridge and can easily hop on the NJ Turnpike from there.

Your travel time is estimated 53 miles, approximately 54 mins from the George Washington Bridge.

3rd Stop: TBD

Depending on how many cars, we have decided to have a ratio for number of caravan leaders per number of cars attending. Example. 1 Caravan Leader per 8-10 cars with a "co-leader" in the end.

We will be handing out:
Directions and Maps
All Attendees Cell phone numbers
Walkie Talkies ( I better get them back)

Please note that we will be traveling together and adhering to all traffic laws in every state. We have plenty of time to get there and no need to go faster than the speed limit. We are representing our perspective Forums and ourselves. So please.. NO RACING! NO ROAD RAGE! NO SWITCHING LANES without signaling! We must share the road, so if a fellow NON CARAVAN driver wishes to change to a lane we are occupying, it should not be difficult to let that person in or out. Basically, we don't own the roads.

DO NOT POST TENTATIVES - We want CONFIRMED people, only those that have actually cleared their calendars for this day should be posting for inclusion to the master caravan list.

I think there are a LOT of lurkers in the NYC Maxima community. I'm sure this caravan will be pretty decent in size!
