Thanks for posting the info. I know you had been looking for a road course track day....is that out of the plan?

even if changes are made, it's good to have a general idea down on paper and then revise it if needed.
so the track meet is at a 1/4?

IMO, I would much rather go to a road course, even if it were to cost more...driving in a straight line isn't all that amusing...i can do that anywhere

We are currently working on seeing if we could get a roadcourse, but to rent an entire track to ourselves is gonna cost at least $4500. And who knows how many cars will show up to race that day.

I agree..just look at last year. How many people said they would show up to maxus and how many actually did? How did we do it last year, considering there weren't many people that ran? I just really thought that the roadcourse was the most memorable moment of maxus '06, but if it comes down to only being able to do a drag event, I'll still try to make it.

I am trying to work on something with Autobahn. As I recall, there is also a drag track nearby.

ditto....there are plenty of local drag strips - It's a long haul out there for alot of us unless there's something special to do (like a road course)....
at very least, a nice, big autocross setup....

The Autobahn is near Route 66 in Joliet, the tech at 66 are sticklers about your car, they go by the book hardcore, plus you have a punch card, you can only make three passes I believe. But yeah if you have connections to the Autobahn that would be greatly appriciate it, since myself would like to go to a roadcourse as well but its all about the money and going to a dragstrip would be the cheapest route. But that is why we have so far about 10 months and many committee meetings before Maxus 07.

Get in touch with the local car clubs.. Z clubs, SVT/Cobra club, Corvette guys, etc etc etc. Also talk to the SE-R guys. With a bit of organization and a couple of other clubs involved, it'll be very possible to rent a track for the day. If all else fails, move the dates for the entire weekend to one where a club is already at the track and get in with them for a couple dozen of us to crash their track day. As long as they've got notice and pre-payment, they usually have no problem with that.

I have gone to multiple events set up at the Former New World Music Theatre formerly Tweeter Center now some bank ampitheater. Also a few at Arlington Park race track. I don't know if anyone has thought of these places or checked them out.

Yeah I drove twice to Texas for road course racing. For both '05 and '06 Maxus events I drove the longest distance, 1750 miles one way mostly driven non stop, and barely made it in time this year with the engine swap. But if it's going to be a drag racing or auto-x event im gonna pass. Sorry but that's how I feel about it.

Hate to say it, but I'm with Joe on this.. if I'm going to drive 1000+ miles for an event, it's going to have to be for more than 15 sec of spanking my monkey.

I agree with the 1/4 mile not being as thrilling as a road course.
But I view Maxus as a chance to meet some of you that have been so helpful with everybody here on the org and shake y'alls hands and say thanks in person. We all chat but it will be nice to meet. I had to miss this years' meet due to prior commitments. I look forward to '07

if people are only going just to do a road course then tha would limit the number of people that want to show their cars due to the risk of damage. people would probally have to bring rims/tires for driving and the show and a set just for the road course. i say we just have a car show/get together at the track. be it drag or other then we can just chill and watch others go drag.
but i'm going just to meet other people since im not gonna show my car nor be intrested in road course racing since i wouldnt want someone running into me.

As of right now, it's setup so that there is a little bit of everything for everyone. Im now interested in going cause im about the road courses.
Also you don't have to do the road course racing unless you want to. This year some people just watched while the cars raced. Matt had it right this year and got more people interested in road course racing cause there was a dyno meet next to the track. It was much better than last year where we had 3~4 Maximas racing and no one watching.
