What else does everyone want to see at Maxus?

So you guys can see the threads elsewhere in the forum on what's going on..
road course track day, speedzone, car show w/ Dyno at the show (possibly.. if not, we'll have a dyno event elsewhere)..

looking at the schedule, there's nothing for Sat night.. the track event will be day/early afternoon on Sat, so by about 6-6:30pm, those that went to the track event will be back and cleaned up.

There's also nothing for Sun night after the car show. I figure a lot of people will be headed back home then, but there will be others that hang around for an extra day or are locals and don't need to go home.

I was hoping to be able to get some time on a dragstrip, but I just don't see it happening that weekend unless you guys want to play 1/8 mile. the closest 1/4 mile is having a Super Chevy weekend, and I'm not even sure if they'll let us on the lot, let alone run.. we'd prolly be run off by rednecks or something stupid like that. There are a few 1/8 mile tracks in the area, but I don't know if you guys want to do that or would rather do something else.

So feel free to throw out suggestions!! Also, let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see at the car show.. basically it's going to be the same setup as last year, with the addition of the mobile dyno if that works out. Hopefully there will be less circus and more cars this year as well!

I just want to see a lot of Maxima's and talk to other owners! I'm pretty much open to anything as I probably won't leave until Tuesday so I can check Dallas out. Don't think I'll be involved in the track events with my stock car...I'd like to watch though. I've never been to something like this so I really don't know what to expect.

Awesome! that's one helluva drive! Definitely come to the track event. You can drive and have a blast, even with a stock car!

Would there be a place to do some detailing on Saturday night? Somewhere with water and electric? We could share some detailing tips and get the cars ready for the show on Sunday.

Good suggestion! I was thinking that because I don't think my car will be too clean after the long drive!

Last year, Town East Mall said they would be willing to provide their maintenance bay for car wash purposes. There are also many other coin operated car washes in the area, but I will also talk to Trohpy and the hotel about getting some place that we can clean them up in a not-so-rushed manner that always happens at a regular car wash.

I can ask my body shop if he would be willing to help. His shop is near the Speed Zone and he would keep his shop open late for us.

Ha ha you remembered! Yes that painters tape works magic baby!

Makes the car look funny but gets it lots of attention.... perfect for the road trip- looks like the car showed up on a trailer when you peel it off.

Its BLUE painters tape- (kinda pricey sometimes) You'll need 2-3 (3-4") rolls of the tape. Best way is to lay it out ON A CLEAN car verticle to your hood. Once that layer is down then I put horizontal strips of Duct tape (don't let that touch your paint!) You can see in the pictures that I do my entire front end (fenders, bumper, hood and above the windshield) ON my show car 98 I also do behind the tire wells so it does not get chips from kicking rocks onto itself. ( I am paranoid) You can basically tape anything you want to protect- just be sure to use some duct tape on top of it for strength. Once you arrive simply peel off and the car looks flawless- besides the rims and anything not covered Hope that helps!

That's an awesome idea, but probably took forever taping up the front end.

Takes me 2 hours to do both _ REALLY GOOD. And it takes TWO people to lay it out right. The tape can be expensive but its cheaper than re-painting Its just a matter of how much you care about your front end and paint.... some have really good stock paint that is tough- but my custom paint jobs on both of them easily chip and would require re-painting the entire car since they are custom blended colors.

if u dont feel like doing the taping a more permanant option is to wrap the fron end in clear viynl. 3M makes kits but a double layer of viynl will also work. i would still recommend taping the front end. after Maxima Girl told me abt that, its the only way to go when hitting the road for a show. she knows her stuff.

You know what I would like to see, or possibly have. Can we organize a drive? Maybe a mass drive of all the maximas going to the Car show or even after. Im not sure. It could be scheduled on Saturday while heading somewhere but I love it when I see the mass drives of maxima pictures of everyone on the highway and stuff. Nothing but Maximas, and a Q45.

That would be next to impossible to do in Dallas. Traffic is just too bad.

We could do something like that when we leave the track event on Sat, but that's about the only time I see it being possible.

Just thought I would throw that out there because Ive seen pics of mass drives. You are correct Dallas wouldnt be the place to do it come to thinking about it, but if it is possible thatd be cool. Are there any scenic roads in Dallas, you know like mountain drives?

Since this meet is not booked solid as far as time goes, in the afternoons-evenings, I would like to hit a local 1/8th mile. Either Friday night, Saturday night, or Sunday afetr the main meet.

Matt, what are the options for a test and tune session local to Dallas? (I am planning on going to a drag strip even if the consensus does not want to) What 1/8th mile tracks are local? (with in a 30 mile radius of Dallas)

I wanna go racing, too. To help Matt answer your question, you could try this link: http://www.staginglight.com/links/trackfinder.html

It looks like there are a few strips around Dallas, but their schedules gotta be checked over - events are scheduled for Maxus 06 weekend at some.

Ennis (Texas Motorplex) is one of the best and fastest tracks in the country... It was just repaved last summer and is 100% concrete..

The problem with them is they're having a Super Chevy show the entire weekend of Maxus, so they're out. the other 1/8
